You can walk down the main avenue from the Marque be Pombal roundabout to the waterfront , or to Alfama or the Barrio . We booked the red tour bus for two days, the one that does three routes, and did the short routes in one day and the longer one on second day. I've been before and walked everywhere, the main station is half way down the main avenue for longer trips, I did find on my last trip that the metro meant you didn't see as much as on foot or on the tour bus. i stayed in the SANA at the front last time and went for the same area again as I found it easy to get around., and all the tour buses stop just off the roundabout, fort her down the route you cannot get on in the mornings as they fill up at the roundabout. I booked HOPPA online for transfers ,private taxi right to the door, prompt and polite ! £40 return in total with a discount offer. Got the airport bus on the previous trip as it has a bus stop right by the SANA, was quite a few stops on the way before you get there but good and cheap.
