I will start with the negative aspects. As others say there are many restaurants nearby, but each day you have to run the gauntlet of being accosted by restaurant staff as you try to walk down the road - these are mainly very touristy restaurants. We ordered a double bed and got two beds pushed together which was not very...

Great location, very helpful team. Rooms on street can be noisy at night. Nearby are tram 25, 15, and Gloria cablecar to get you to all parts of city quickly. Timeout market was our new find of the trip - all the leading restaurants showing their favourites in one location

Hotel gives the appearance of being tired, but was very clean and despite the fittings being bashed about it was perfectly acceptable. The room at the back was quiet, although some noise could be heard through the walls. The staff were extremely helpful and provided assistance to various questions and issues. Breakfast was served at the back of the hotel,...

We were a party of four in two rooms. Reception staff were consistently helpful. Rooms and bathrooms are well furnished, exceptionally clean and sheets and towels changed daily. One room faced the theatre with a music festival on late at night. When asked, Reception moved our friends at one in the morning to a quieter, bigger room. We found breakfast...

We couldn't of picked a better hotel for location easy to get to by bus from airport and walking distance to many attractions. The rooms were very clean our room was on the top floor at the back of the...

The hotel is in a great location, near to amazing restaurants, Praca do Comercio and metro station. You can easily arrive from the airport and walk few meters. The room though is not so spacious and our bathroom smelled sewage a bit - called reception and the explanation is that when Tejo river is down, the smells comes up. Breakfast...

We have just left this hotel after three great nights. We booked in the strength of reviews. They were not wrong. It is in the best location for touring Lisbon. Staff are great. We had a Superior room which was large and comfortable. Breakfast was good and varied. However the breakfast room can get busy. It is not a mass...

Fantastic hotel in a beautiful city. I can't find any major fault with the place, friendly helpful staff, clean rooms, lovely breakfast selection, they even provided me with soya milk as I am vegan. The location is perfect for transport links, although Lisbon I found is best explored on foot, and with the hills it will keep you fit. The...

Brilliant location, had to laugh at the narrow corridor to our room but the room was fine, if a little small. Clean and comfortable with very good helpful staff and good breakfast selection. Perfect for a short stay exploring Lisbon😀

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
