Stayed here at the end of June for four days and had a great stay. The staff were very friendly and spoke English very well. The location was perfect just off of the Rua Augusta and a three minute walk to the Praca do Comercio and Rossio train station. The rooms are old as everyone else has stated but were...

Was not hoping or expecting much based on the previous reviews posted here but there is a fine line between old school charm and being absolutely run down. This hotel is in dire need of a serious makeover that no amount of cleaning can replace: bathroom curtain was old and had traces of mold on it, the furniture was literally...

The accomodation is what you expect from a ~20 year old hotel, "not to modern" BUT Clean! The location compensate everything. It is in the hearth of Lisabon! So We recomend to everybody. If I have to I book again in the near future.

The hotel has elevator to 2nd floor where reception is located. It is very well located for walking or trams, buses, Metro in all directions. It's clean, safe, quiet and has absolutely no ambiance. Breakfast is bread rolls and coffee or tea, day after day after day. However, it is very reasonable and had extra blankets and pillows which I...

So it's a great location for a hotel. Central. No hills. It's loud. REALLY OUTDATED. It's fairly secure. You have to come and go by leaving your key at the front desk. There's an elevator. The beds are old. The decor is old. The rooms are small with a filmsy lock on the door. The bathroom is a bathroom.

We stayed here for 4 nights. It's bang in the centre of the Baxia district of pedestrianised central Lisbon, Ideal location to visit all the main tourist highlights of the city. There are numerous bars, restaurants and shops right outside the front door. The hotel is a short walk from the main squares where the metro, buses and main train station...

Stayed here in February 2015 with 5 other couples. We had a great time! Slight mix up upon check in with bookings as the receptionist had bad English but got resolved eventually. The decor is seriously old here, so don't expect much. The Wi-Fi works in the lobby/bar area only, and they will tell you that themselves. The bar says...

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!

“Pay attention to smoking rooms if you don't smoke. Make sure you will have the room you think by contacting the hotel prior. It is probable to have better wi-fi connexion in the rooms near the street and at the some floor of the reception or the next floor.”
