Good hotel and very well located, near to the centre of town and just off the main thoroughfare. Quiet area. Room and bathroom very spacious and clean. One complaint - no tea/coffee making facilities. We had a very good deal with this hotel via lastminute.com and were extremely pleased

I usually read reviews, and by those I try to choose the hotel. Fortunately, I didnt have the time to check the reviews on trip advisor, so I book the hotel. I am not sure, did the people who left those horrible reviews came anywhere near the hotel or what kind of hotels are they used to stay in, but...

I would be very wary about booking this hotel. In our room the carpet was worn in ridges with the floorboards and very badly stained. Curtains in poor condition, balcony doors unable to see through, didn't close properly so very noisy from bar down road and from bin collections in early hours. The wallpaper and paintwork was very grimy and...

The only good thing about this hotel is the location as it is right in the middle of town. A part from that its not good at all. The reception is quite nice but the room is small with peeling wall paper and disgusting bathroom. The tap cant be closed so there was constantly water running. The noise from outside...

This is a budget hotel in a good location. Rooms are clean (enough), beds are comfortable enough and bathroom and furniture are old-fashion (it's not a problem), Close to many restaurants, touristic sites and night life. ‘Funicular’ and metro just beside the hotel. Staff was not very welcoming. Breakfast is simple. Don't forget, you are in a budget stay.

Brilliant location close to Bairo Alto and good connections with buses and the underground. With the renevation complete, the rooms are nice and clean. This is one of the neatest two-star hotels I've visited.

We came to stay here for two nights in July. The location of this hotel is fantastic. Close to main old town area of Lisbon. The main reason why we would come back to this hotel was the service. Always ready to help and spoke really good English. Would recommend this hotel!

I loved the hotel! Great location and the staff was super nice. They made us feel very welcomed and provided all services we asked for. The only problem was the yellow tram... It made a lot of noise, but I didn't mind much because it stopped at night and I was out of the hotel fairly often. Also the breakfast...

I read many reviews of this hotel before booking. Now that I've stayed, I realise that many people seem to have thought they had booked the Ritz. I got a fairly basic room with bathroom and shower, it was fine for three nights and my friend and I were paying £21 per night. No complaints whatsoever. The funicular to the...

Located 1 street up from Av Liberdade near Hard Rock Cafe, lots of graffiti & rundown buildings surrounding hotel on Rua da Gloria, weren't sure about location at first, but turned to be okay & felt safe. The beds were comfortable, good pillows, quiet room & clean, shower was great. Breakfast was low end cheese & meats & staff wouldn't let...

Staying in Chiado & Carmo

Neighbourhood Profile
Chiado & Carmo
The traditionally trendy "Chiado" (literally, "squeak", the nickname of a 16th century poet) offers plenty of cafes, restaurants and bars where you can stop for a cafe or cocktail, after exploring its streets, shops, art galleries, theaters, museums and viewpoints. It's also the home to the statue of the famous statue of portuguese poet Fernando Pessoa, having is usual espresso at "A Brasileira" as he used to. You can also enjoy breathtaking views of Lisbon from the Elevador de Santa Justa or the Carmo Convent, for example. A commercial neighborhood at its core, especially for its Garrett and Carmo streets, Chiado is to this day a mandatory visit in Lisbon.
