In our many years taking city breaks, this hotel was by far our best choice. the hotel itself is clean and modern, efficient and unobtrusive staff, furniture and fittings are a little bit dated, but everything is in working order, spacious and bright. The only complaint my wife had was the lighting in the bathroom for make-up.. Go out the...

We have just returned from a hen do weekend staying at the VIP Eden Suites in Lisbon. We had 3 apartments between 10 people and overall were very pleased with the hotel choice. It was in a great location - central and well linked by trams, furni. We arrived at about 11am and were able to check into our rooms...

These apartments are located in a converted Cinema/Theatre in a good location. They are a no frills package but erring on the tired. However they are good value and the staff seemed very friendly.

Large clean room, nice reception staff, central location and great breakfast from a panoramic terrace for an extra 8,50 euro. The room did not have much apart from the basic equipment, but I did not spend much time in it.

I wanted a hotel with English language TV so I could watch the US election returns, so I moved here for two nights from my first Lisbon hotel. The location is excellent, but the room was a big disappointment. And even though I did get CNN, the TV was small (see photo) and the remote didn’t work properly. The hotel...

We have just returned from the VIP Eden and were very pleased with our stay. The Airport bus is only 3 euros to the hotel and actually we were pleased that the bus stopped right outside the the hotel. The hotel was classed as a four star and we can confirm this was more that accurate. Very pleasant staff -...

Having read the previous reviews regarding the hotel, I was half expecting to turn up at Fawlty Towers with Victor Meldrew on the front desk, and there not be a room booked or the hotel had been overbooked and I would have to traipse off to the Eden's sister. Imagine my surprise when they retrieved my booking without a hitch,...

I would not advise booking at this hotel. After reading the good reviews, my fiance and I decided we would stay here for a weekend away during one of the long weekends in July. Our two primary criteria for our hotel were that it be right in the heart of the action and have a pool. On that basis, we...

The hotel exceeded our expectations. The rooms were very clean and there was even a kitchen for those that want to whip up a quick meal. The location was great- during the day were we near the sights and then by night we were within walking distance to all the little streets with Portuguese-cuisine restaurants. The pool was lovely, overlooking...

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
