We left the Hotel Tejo today after the start of our honeymoon. We were lucky to be given a suite by the hotel, which was nice and spacious with a separate lounge and bedroom. It was comfortable and the furnishings appeared new. The hotel is in a fantastic location with the hop on - hop off bus 2 mins walk...

My family and myself (3 adults) started our portuguese road trip in beautiful Lisboa. Unfortunately we did not receive a very friendly welcome at our hotel. We had booked a one bedroom appartment at Hotel Lisboa Tejo. The appartments are not in the hotel but a bit further in an other building, probably 5-7 minutes by walk. We were aware...

Stayed here for 2 nights, both a Saturday and Sunday! Saturday night was very very noisy so slept really badly! And then people leaving their rooms very early were also really noisy! Receptionists were very good but didn't help when I complained about the Roosevelt, they just said Sunday night would be quoted! Would not stay there again. Rooms were...

Charming people to greet us, spoke English very well, made excellent recommendations on discovering the city! Lobby is clean and is a mix and old, very attractive. Breakfast was included and very complete as well as the eating area was very clean. Our room was clean, but the bathroom was in need of a refresh... At the time of our...

The hotel is located very central, the tram-station is directly in front of the hotel, so its a bit loud. The Hotel was in a "ok"-condition, but good for sleeping. The staff-members are very friendly and try to help.

We wanted to stay in a central location within Lisbon so that it would be easy for us to reach public transportation and to explore this amazing area on foot to our hearts content. This hotel was a perfect choice! When we first pulled up outside, I had my doubts. However, once we were inside the hotel, we encountered a...

The hotel is located very central which is it's advantage, but also its problem: at the front traffic, at the rear side loud ventilation systems. Thus, it will depend on your ears whether you will be able to sleep there or not.

While the lobby is warm and inviting and the staff are very helpful and courteous, the rest of the hotel leaves a lot to be desired. My room had the hairs of previous occupants still on the bathroom floor, the shower curtain was old and starting to go black at the bottom, and the drain in the centre of the...

This place was really conveniently located, the rooms were decent for the price, and there was a great breakfast! There were also lots of outlets in the room, which wasn't the case in other hotels we stayed in on this trip. Very pleased with our experience here.

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
