In hilly Lisbon, location is the most important factor when choosing a hotel. Hotel Lisboa Tejo is in a perfect place, a starting point for all the sightseeing gems in the city. Next door is the famous 28 tram, which makes a wonderful loop though the narrow strrets of Lisbon, and number 15, which will take you to Belem. The...

I cannot say enough good things about this hotel. I came to Lisbon because my child who was on vacation had a serious accident requiring surgery at the local hospital. The hotel is centrally located. The rooms are quaint, clean, spacious, nicely decorated and mine was very quiet AND PEACEFUL. There is wifi, and air conditioning and a mini bar....

Broadly agree with previous reviewers: friendly, helpful staff (although the Manager seemed gruff), interesting design downstairs and ideally located for the centre of Lisbon. However, the rooms were very badly in need of TLC: chipped paintwork, crumbling plaster, odd replacement tiles around the badly scratched bath, very hard beds. Room servicing was first class, though.. The Hotel is on a...

The hotel is outdated. Poor breakfast. Rooms are very noisy and even with the windows closed it looks like if the busses are coming trough your room. Staff is extremely nice and helpfull. The location is perfect.

This hotel was in a great location; handy for tram 28; 10 minutes walk from the railway stations to Sintra and Cascais and we were able to walk to most of the attractions we wanted to see in Lisbon. The staff spoke excellent English and were extremely helpful at all times. We had the breakfast included in our package and...

Checked in here after we were stuck in Lisbon due to the volcano and our original place was fully booked. Good central location but that does mean its quite noisy. Decent priced rooms. Lobby area was nice but bedrooms dated and need updating. Breakfast was poor with limited choice including awful orange flavoured water that was meant to be juice....

The hotel is very centrally located which makes it ideal for exploring the city center. However, the rooms are small and urgently need an overhaul, especially the bathrooms. The staff is mostly friendly but seems to have problems with the English language. Overall a not too pricy hotel but better ones available.

Perfect for a weekend break to Lisbon, in close proximity to the heart of the city. Unfortunately, we were assigned the wrong room on arrival & had to move later that night. Which was a pity, as the room was much larger than the one we eventually settled for. Overall, helpful staff and so close to the station/metro/tram/bus. Airport only...

We chose this hotel on the basis of its location, previous reviews and cost. We were not disappointed in any respect. The hotel is in the heart of the city centre, so allowing easy exploration on foot of the Baixa and Chiado areas of the city, and within yards of Rossio metro station and buses and trams to the Alfamo,...

We loved staying at this hotel. Eventhough the rooms are rather small, it is a place that we would recomend to everybody and if we ever go to Lissabon again we will for sure book a room at this hotel again. There is just something special abot this place, and the staff there is fabolous, polite, helpfull and always smiling....

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
