My husband and I have just returned from a 3 night city break based at the Lisboa Carmo. The location of the hotel is excellent - by a charming square with historic buildings and, most importantly for us, close of a wide selection of terrific restaurants and cafes. Our room was extremely comfortable and stylish with great views. Service could...

First time in Lisbon and what a great introduction. Friendly staff, stylish hotel, extremely comfortable bed and room and good food - breakfast and evening meal. The location for us turned out to be ideal - pretty central and easy to walk to great restaurants in the Chiado and Barrio Alto area. Successful stay!

All staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. Stayed in room 304 (very comfy bed) which has a long narrow corner balcony offering excellent views over the city. The hotel is well positioned at the corner of Largo do Carmo, a small quaint traditional square. Location is excellent for lots of sights, restaurants, bars and Rossio train station.

Just returned from a 4 day visit to LIsbon after staying in this excellent Hotel. The staff on the check in desk were friendly and helpful. The rooms spotlessly clean, the beds comfortable, and the shower one of the best I've used on my travels. Add to this the location and the little touches such as complimentary drink in the...

Very friendly staff, they made me an upgrade to a superior room and also offered breakfast. The view over downtown Lisbon, the castle and the Tagus river was awesome. Very nice room with a great decor. Great location and free parking.

Having recently returned from a very enjoyable trip to Lisbon, staying at the Lisboa Carmo Hotel for 6 nights, we found the Carmo to be a really good quality hotel, in a great location, right in the heart of the city & just 5 minutes walk from Rossio Square. We had a really lovely room, very comfortable & pristinely maintained...

We stayed here for a weekend in February and what a find! We were offered a complimentary drink upon arrival and we're even given free complimentary breakfast for the duration of our stay even though we had been room only. Rooms are nicely furnished and quite modern and the hotel is about 1 minute walk to the lift and the...

We stayed at the Lisboa Carmo hotel for a four night break over NYE 2016. Location of the hotel was perfect. It was close to Baixa Chiado and Rossio metro stations so was easy to get to and from the airport. We were greeted by a really friendly and welcoming receptionist when we checked in who was very polite and...

We have just returned from a 3 night break for my husbands birthday. Our room on the 4th floor was spacious, clean and well decorated. The only negative was that the pillows were uncomfortable but that was the only room issue. Bottles of water are provided daily along with slippers and dressing gowns and when I rang room service to...

Staying in Chiado & Carmo

Neighbourhood Profile
Chiado & Carmo
The traditionally trendy "Chiado" (literally, "squeak", the nickname of a 16th century poet) offers plenty of cafes, restaurants and bars where you can stop for a cafe or cocktail, after exploring its streets, shops, art galleries, theaters, museums and viewpoints. It's also the home to the statue of the famous statue of portuguese poet Fernando Pessoa, having is usual espresso at "A Brasileira" as he used to. You can also enjoy breathtaking views of Lisbon from the Elevador de Santa Justa or the Carmo Convent, for example. A commercial neighborhood at its core, especially for its Garrett and Carmo streets, Chiado is to this day a mandatory visit in Lisbon.
