We stayed here for a weekend in February and what a find! We were offered a complimentary drink upon arrival and we're even given free complimentary breakfast for the duration of our stay even though we had been room only. Rooms are nicely furnished and quite modern and the hotel is about 1 minute walk to the lift and the...

We stayed at the Lisboa Carmo hotel for a four night break over NYE 2016. Location of the hotel was perfect. It was close to Baixa Chiado and Rossio metro stations so was easy to get to and from the airport. We were greeted by a really friendly and welcoming receptionist when we checked in who was very polite and...

We have just returned from a 3 night break for my husbands birthday. Our room on the 4th floor was spacious, clean and well decorated. The only negative was that the pillows were uncomfortable but that was the only room issue. Bottles of water are provided daily along with slippers and dressing gowns and when I rang room service to...

With my partner and 2 friends we went to have lunch here on a rainy Saturday afternoon. Our friend is in a wheelchair and it is hard to enter the restaurant in a wheelchair. You need help from 2 people. The waitress was friendly and very helpful and even turned the airco down that was blowing cold air in our...

I've traveled to Lisbon a lot and have yet to find a 4 or 5 start hotel that compares to the same in other cities; this was no exception. We had a great visit but the hotel was a bummer. We were in a standard room (tried to book the next level up but they could not accommodate due to...

This small hotel is located just off a quiet and attractive square filled with jacaranda trees. It is a short walk from many of Lisbon's attractions including shops, restaurants, bars and tourist destinations. The hotel itself has clean thoughtfully and individually designed en suite bedrooms, a restaurant and bar (sometimes offering a live quartet), offering delicious meals and drinks. What...

The hotel has an older look on the exterior but the interior is totally modern and chic. They provided us with amenities that were exceptional such as chocolates, a bottle of champagne, some snacks-for new year's eve. They also provided complimentary bottled water throughout our stay. The front office staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful-Miguel, Rita, Luis and Bernard. They...

Nice clean hotel with great location in Lisboa. Friendly staff that was very helpful and good breakfast. Perfect place to stay during a weekend in the city. They can also make car rental arrangements.

This was our first trip to Lisbon. Our hotel was so central on a picturesque square. The rooms were comfortable, the breakfasts generous and the staff well informed and very helpful. The hotel is surrounded by good restaurants and historical sights. We had a great holiday.

Its location is great because is right in the heart of the city, next to Bairro Alto and downtown, the decor is very modern but cozy and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The room was very clean and neat, the only fault I can find is that the matresses weren't too confortable, apart from that, the experience was...

Staying in Chiado & Carmo

Neighbourhood Profile
Chiado & Carmo
The traditionally trendy "Chiado" (literally, "squeak", the nickname of a 16th century poet) offers plenty of cafes, restaurants and bars where you can stop for a cafe or cocktail, after exploring its streets, shops, art galleries, theaters, museums and viewpoints. It's also the home to the statue of the famous statue of portuguese poet Fernando Pessoa, having is usual espresso at "A Brasileira" as he used to. You can also enjoy breathtaking views of Lisbon from the Elevador de Santa Justa or the Carmo Convent, for example. A commercial neighborhood at its core, especially for its Garrett and Carmo streets, Chiado is to this day a mandatory visit in Lisbon.
