Could a Bed and Breakfast turn out a city attraction itself? Yes it can. Everything from location to service and value makes Zuzabed THE place to stay in Lisbon, but what really makes this place top notch is the owner Luis. You couldnt ask for a better guy to run such a place and the hospitality added with the local... More

My husband and I and two other couples ended our tour of Portugal in Lisbon and stayed with Luis at Zuza! We actually lived in Lisbon some years back and thought we knew the city but Luis brought a new lens to our view. His warmth and adoration for his city is lovely and infectious. The breakfasts were wonderful; good... More

We loved this place, but especially its owner Luis, who is a paragon of hospitality. Book the larger room with terrace access and multiple views of Old Lisbon. Enjoy a breakfast worth the trip by itself, and the kind of exemplary service one usually finds in 5 star hotels. A perfect location in the heart of the city, five minutes... More

We had a short break in Lisbon in March which was made by our host Luis, who apart from the friendly welcome was a great character who knows all about Lisbon, holding court over breakfast to see everybody knew each other, doing his best to help all the guests.Breakfast was very good with excellent homemade food, juices, coffee, etc. The tomato jam is excellent. We stayed at Zuzabed for 3 nights last weekend and thoroughly enjoyed it. The B&B itself is in a very good location and makes it very easy to get around. But the real star of our trip, as has been mentioned in the other reviews, was Luis. He is a genuinely nice and extremely helpful host and we cannot thank... More

This is a 4 room B&B located in the Rossio area, with many restaurants and fado places nearby. The rooms and common areas are very good and nicely decorated. Some like the one we stayed in have a terrace with a wonderful view of the city. The breakfast is perfect and Luis, the owner/manager, is incredibly helpful and friendly, and... More

Zuzabed and Breakfast has left a lasting impression, especally the owner and host, Luis, who makes one feel as though you are the most important guest he has staying there. He's like a personal travel consultant. He loves his city and his country, and his enthusiasm is wonderful. In addition to the help he offers (he even gives you a cell... More

We stayed in Zuzabed last year on the recommendation of friends, and absolutely LOVED it. The place is lovely, really well located (if you don't mind the stairs) and as everyone who stays there agrees Luis is an incredible host. That's not what this review is about though, because Luis has just out-done himself! Our friends (the same ones who... More

Our host Luis is a prince of a man. From the initial email correspondence months before our arrival to saying goodbye with a hug, our experience of Zuzabed was superb. Be warned, though, the address is literally a cobblestoned staircase, for which Lisbon is famous. If you have a lot of heavy luggage be prepared to struggle. If you have... More

Staying in Chiado & Carmo

Neighbourhood Profile
Chiado & Carmo
The traditionally trendy "Chiado" (literally, "squeak", the nickname of a 16th century poet) offers plenty of cafes, restaurants and bars where you can stop for a cafe or cocktail, after exploring its streets, shops, art galleries, theaters, museums and viewpoints. It's also the home to the statue of the famous statue of portuguese poet Fernando Pessoa, having is usual espresso at "A Brasileira" as he used to. You can also enjoy breathtaking views of Lisbon from the Elevador de Santa Justa or the Carmo Convent, for example. A commercial neighborhood at its core, especially for its Garrett and Carmo streets, Chiado is to this day a mandatory visit in Lisbon.
