This hotel is marvelously situated in the heart of central Lisbon, on one of its most vibrant shopping streets, and right by a metro stop. The tradeoff is that it can be noisy, especially on evenings and weekends--getting a room that faces away from the Rua Garrett improves the situation, though you'll still hear the buskers on the square. The...

Borges Chiado is probably a great hotel for tourists staying just a couple of days in Lisbon. The location is great, the hotel is clean enough, wifi is fine, breakfast is just ok. Once you step out of the hotel you are immersed by all the noisy crowds continuously passing by this area.

Stayed here for a long weekend while attending a wedding in Lisbon. The room was really tiny, though perfectly clean. Forget about breakfast, it's non existent, and staff seemed indifferent (very different attitude to anything I've experienced in the Algarve) We really only slept here and were out most of the time. Location is great, couldn't be more central, but...

Borges Chiado is right next to Baixa Chiado metro station, very well located to discover Lisbon on foot. The staff is very friendly. The room was fine, you'll have everything you need to spend the night. The bed was very comfortable and even though there's quite a lot going on on the street, we barely heard anything. Good Wi-Fi. My parents had invited us and my brother and his family here for my dad 80th birthday trip. So we had 4 different rooms and my husband and I got lucky with the bigger room, though my parents got the bigger bathroom. The hotel has been recently renovated and all the rooms were great and very pretty and cozy decorated...

We had a beautiful big room, see picture, it's a perfect location for seeing Lisbon. Very clean, friendly staff, good breakfast. It's a little bit noisy because it's in a very lively place, there is a nice bar next door, and there are hundreds of restraints near by.

Staying in Chiado & Carmo

Neighbourhood Profile
Chiado & Carmo
The traditionally trendy "Chiado" (literally, "squeak", the nickname of a 16th century poet) offers plenty of cafes, restaurants and bars where you can stop for a cafe or cocktail, after exploring its streets, shops, art galleries, theaters, museums and viewpoints. It's also the home to the statue of the famous statue of portuguese poet Fernando Pessoa, having is usual espresso at "A Brasileira" as he used to. You can also enjoy breathtaking views of Lisbon from the Elevador de Santa Justa or the Carmo Convent, for example. A commercial neighborhood at its core, especially for its Garrett and Carmo streets, Chiado is to this day a mandatory visit in Lisbon.
