Reborn from the brink of becoming part of Lisbon's archeological heritage, this 15th century 'Palacio dos Castros' has a new lease of life and is now home to Lisbon's newest 5 star Boutique Hotel, Santiago de Alfama. Situated on Rua de Santiago, the road where globalisation was financed, Christopher Colombus married and the start of the Caminho de Santiago de Compostela. Hotel Santiago de Alfama is perfectly located for the curious traveller. Beautiful whimsical views of old Alfama glide towards the sea, whilst the swallows nest along the nearby rooftops. The bustle our restaurant Audrey's and 'Manny's Bar' will keep guests well fed and The Beauty Bar will delight. Special, local and independent, Hotel Santiago de Alfama is a beacon of authenticity in this lovely city of light, Lisboa.

This delightful boutique hotel is located in the heart of the historic center of Lisbon (Alfama area).
It is an elegant, sober and well-kept structure, which also has a restaurant and bar where you can have breakfast (with internal rooms and external dehor).
The staff is extremely kind and professional, always ready to advise and give information.
The room was very nice, large, on the first floor with a window overlooking the street (but still quiet), equipped with a walk-in closet with safe and coffee/tea set, very large bathroom (with bathtub, shower, double sink and toilet) with set of courtesy, very soft bathrobes and slippers.
The bedroom was equipped with a king size, LCD TV, minibar, air conditioning, sofa and side tables. Very clean and quiet, with good lighting.
Breakfast was fabulous, with a choice of various options (sweet and savory), croissants of various types, spectacular cakes, hot and cold drinks, jams, yogurt and freshly squeezed juices/squeezes.
We also tried the restaurant and ate very well.
The staff was very kind and attentive, they all paid close attention to any allergies reported.
What can I say, really highly recommended!!!

Santiago de Alfama is a beautiful quiet retreat after a day of travel or exploring. Lana welcomed us upon our arrival with refreshments, our bags were taken to our room, and guest services was available to answer any questions during our stay. The lobby is inviting. The accommodations and cleanliness of the boutique hotel are superb. The large tub and rain shower provided comfort after hot days of walking. The location is within walking distance of observation points, St. George’s Castle, Sao Vicente Monastery, and commercial shopping district. Audrey’s Restaurant is a definite highlight of staying at Santiago de Alfama. We were greeted each morning by the most wonderful staff—smiles and service abound. The food is excellent!! Our dinners at Audrey’s were scrumptious—the sea bass and sirloin steak especially. If we ever stay in Lisbon again, we would definitely stay here!

My wife and I spent a five night stay at Santiago de Alfama over the 2023/24 New Year period.
The hotel arranged a private transfer for our arrival which was convenient and efficient. We arrived at lunchtime to find that our room was ready and we had been upgraded to a beautiful and spacious suite facing the river.
Every aspect of our stay was excellent. From the front desk - Marta was especially helpful - to the restaurant ( Sonya in the restaurant and Bruno in the bar provided wonderful service) and the restaurant manager, everyone provided wonderful service.
We do not eat breakfast but we had dinner in the restaurant and the quality of the food and wine is outstanding at a significantly lower price than we pay in the US.
Despite facing the river with trams on the road near the hotel, the hotel is quiet and we slept well every night. Location wise it is near enough to be accessible to the castle, cathedral, Praca de Comercio, etc. but just far enough away to be out of the touristy areas. There are also a couple of hidden gem neighborhood restaurant and brunch spots close by.
I would highly recommend the Santiago de Alfama for a luxurious stay in Lisbon at an affordable rate compared to other hotels in capital cities in Europe.

Exquisite attention, both from the reception (they give you ideas for visiting the city and surroundings, they offer you a little cherry wine when you arrive, they provide you with towels or whatever you need), and from the cafeteria (super friendly, helpful and friendly) , the bar, like the cleaning people, who if they see you in the hallways will change your water bottles every time you need it.
I stayed in what they call Deluxe King Room. It's expensive, but super comfortable and nice. The location is unbeatable, right next to the main Alfama viewpoints.

Santiago de Alfama was a delightful stay on my sacred pilgrimage throughout France, Spain and Portugal. This boutique hotel is located in the old village and steps away from castle of Sao Jorge and other great sites! The ambience is comforting and cozy, great food and wine along with beautiful unique statues of Our Lady! The concierge are very helpful and booked a dinner and Fado show for just a five-minute walk away! My spaciously sparkling room overlooked the sea and the bathroom and shower were immense!

We stayed at the Santiago de Alfama for our honeymoon and it was wonderful! The staff were very attentive and kind, the room was clean and had a very nice AC system and bathroom, and the breakfasts served on-site each morning were absolutely delicious and huge portions. We will definitely return again in the future, we really enjoyed our time.

Heading into this trip I did not do much research into which areas to stay in Lisbon, but I am glad we ended up in the Alfama neighborhood. It is the oldest and most characterful district of Lisbon, boasting a delightful maze of narrow cobbled streets and traditional houses. Despite having a car, the accessibility to the hotel was made easy with clear communications and instructions from the hotel once they were notified that we would be traveling with a car. They allowed us parking on site and were beyond attentive and helpful. The hotel was beautifully designed and the rooms were spacious and well decorated - we stayed in a room with access directly to the courtyard. The hotel staff was available for any requests and provided helpful recommendations for those traveling to Lisbon without any real itenarary. The hotel was well located and less than a 5 minute walk to the Castelo de SĂŁo Jorge and only a 10-15 minute walk to Baixa. We had originally planned to return to Lisbon for a solo night on our return, and though we ended up scrapping that plan we probably would have rebooked at this same hotel.
Also I would recommend stopping for a drink/light bite at the restaurant at the hotel where they play live fado-esque/Jazz music in the evenings.
Thank you Santiago De Alfama for a wonderful stay!

We arrived for a 3 night stay after getting off a cruise ship. We arrived at the hotel about 9:00am and of course our room wasn't ready yet. No problem, they stored our luggage for us until our room was ready. We had a tour mid day and when we returned to the hotel at 2:30, our luggage had already been put in our room. We had a corner room, which was at the end of the hallway but only had windows out the front of the hotel.
The room itself was lovely, but very small. There was no where to put our luggage and we had to stack in along the only wall in the room there was space, which was by the door. We had to restack the bags as we needed to get into them. The bathroom was nice sized and had a large rain shower. They offered Bulgari hair products and shower gel. They also offered wash cloths, which many European hotels do not. I will say that I found the room to be noisy at night as it faced the front of the hotel. I went to bed every night with ear plugs, but was able to remove them some time in the middle of the night.
There was a small coffee maker and a hot water pot with some coffee pods and teas. There were several closets and shelves. The storage was really great.
There was nightly turn down service. We would come back to the room after dinner to find that the shutters had been closed and the curtains pulled. Fresh towels had also been laid out and the bath mat had been refolded.
The lobby is very nice with a couple of low couches. There is cold, fruit infused water and regular water.
There is a restaurant on the premises and the food was great. They had a lovely breakfast and they had an al fresco dining area covered with umbrellas. The interior restaurant was called Audrey's. We ate there one night for dinner and it was very good.
Service throughout the hotel was great and everyone was very friendly.

This small 19 room hotel was in the perfect location to explore the historic old section of Lisbon, the Alfama neighborhood. We had a lovely room with a view of the river. The staff from housekeeping to the front desk could not have been better. A must stay if your coming to Lisbon.

The Santiago de Alfama Hotel was a sensational boutique hotel. Certainly one of the best hotel stays we have ever had. When we arrived Martim was incredibly hospitable and not only organised our comfort but showed us around this gorgeous hotel. He also helped us with getting around Lisbon and sightseeing. There was nothing he couldn't do. My husband and I felt so comfortable like we were part of the Santiago De Alfama family! The room was spacious and elegant and the bathroom updated and delightfully appointed with bathroom nick nacks. Air conditioning was so efficient. there was coffee tea and fresh water replaced daily and the mini bar was fully stocked. The bar downstairs was gorgeous and breakfast was sensational. I've never had a better breakfast on any of our holidays! As it was warm weather we ate out on the terrace. The restaurant makes all their own pastries on site and the apple turnover is a must! It was a little bit more pricey than we were intending to spend but worth every cent and more! We would definitely stay there again if visiting Lisbon! Best Boutique Hotel stay in many years of travelling!
