It’s not just another hotel in Lisbon. It is the Palácio do Governador (Governor’s Palace, in English), with 60 different rooms, near the Tagus river in the historic centre of Belém, one of the most beautiful and emblematic areas of the Portuguese capital. Built on the site of the former house of the governor of the Tower of Belém, exquisitely restored, on top of roman ruins probably from the 1st to the 5th century, the Palácio do Governador is a palatial building with a reception that once was a chapel, a restaurant with original domes as ceilings and contemporary SPA that’s linked to the ancient thermal traditions of Mediterranean cultures. Close to the Tagus and national historic monuments, Palácio do Governador is the natural choice for anyone who wants to be in Lisbon, near everything, from culture to leisure and far enough from the frenzy of the city centre.

Belém
Belém is the "capital of the Portuguese Discoveries" and a photographer's paradise. You can spend an entire day exploring this neighborhood: monuments (Jerónimos Monastery, Belém Tower, Monument to the Discoveries), museums (Coach Museum, Centro Cultural de Belém) and breathtaking views of the Tagus river will make your visit worth your time. Belém also offers a variety of restaurants and cafes, namely the famous - and delicious - "Pastéis de Belém" (typical Portuguese custard tarts; make sure you buy an extra box of those!). Easily accessible from Lisbon's historic center, Belém is a must-do, especially if you're spending more than one day visiting the Portuguese capital.

A fantastic hotel in a fantastic quiet area of Lisbon. Many attractions are in close walking distance. Breakfast is included and was amazing with outstanding service. The only thing that was disappointing was the gym facility. We book hotels with a gym and this facility was in desperate need of an upgrade.

This hotel is located in Belém. I guess it might be 7/8 kilometres from the city centre, but only a three-minute walk from important landmarks such as The Jeronimos Monastery, the CCB and the beautiful Belem Tower and its pleasant lawn fields, ideal to stroll around leisurely and take some photos. Besides, all that area has become a sort of museums district in the last few years. Palácio do Governador is a modern facility, but in its decoration they´ve combined old elements (tiles, carved ceilings, big pieces of furniture) with contemporary minimalism. Everything is spacious and brand new. The room was regular-sized, with a rather contemporary simplicity. The bathroom was divided in three different spaces, what is quite convenient in my opinion. Beds were extremely comfortable. Unlike other people, I had no problem at all with noise. Although the hotel is inside the city, it seems to have been in a sort of empty area till now, so there are some plots of land around that are being built now. The rooms proved to be soundproof, as I didn´t hear nothing from the works, just the weak sound of any occasional commuting train to Cascais every now and then. There´s a spa area in the basement, with massage cabinets and a heated indoor swimming-pool, but the water was a bit cold for my taste. There are no elements as jacuzzis, whirpools or jets, so it might be relaxant experience for some people or a dull one for others. Good sauna and Turkish bath. Breakfast, natural orange juice included, is outstanding too.

This was a wonderful experience. Arriving on an overnight flight from NY at 6am, we were given a room immediately and admitted directly to a very complete buffet breakfast. Location was terrific : a short walk to Belem Tower and the Monument to Discovery, and to the Monastery, and even to the sublime Pasteis de Belem. The building has huge rooms and corridors like museum galleries. The staff was extremely helpful.

Sorry but do not recommend. There is building work going on every side of the hotel - really noisy. It doesn't stop at night either. There is also a major problem with the drains and so my room stank of foul drains so much so that I couldn't sleep. I asked to move rooms and found that exactly the same problem occurred in the new room, so I think the drains are bad throughout the hotel - may be related to building work

Hello, yes, they have a gym, I didn't have time to use it, used the sauna instead, but I saw some machines there, thread mill, cross trainer, walking board, cycling, I think, stuff like that...
