set in a good location for exploring what setubal has to offer, you will be met by friendly and helpful staff that are not only willing to help and advise, you also get a complimentary drink and map of setubal which turned out to be helpful.
there is no lift but staff are more than willing to help if you want.
my room was on a corner and large, bright, had high ceilings and designed very tastefully and had a t.v,air-con,mini fridge, free safety deposit box, bottled water, coffee machine and i got a free bottle of wine, throw in good storage space and a modern bathroom with a great shower and this hotel has a lot going for it and one i wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

This boutique hotel is extremely well situated for the restaurants and cafes of Setúbal. Our room was very comfortable and clean, there was a nice range of food for breakfast, and the staff are lovely, very friendly and helpful: we were welcomed with a glass of moscatel, gifted a small bottle of wine and, very thoughtfully, a bottle of sparkling wine as a birthday treat. When we visit Setúbal again we will be staying here.

Wow! From the moment we entered Rio Art Hotel’s door, it was a positive, warm and welcoming experience. The employee provided info and advice on what to see and where to go, based on our preferences, beautiful decoration, cleanliness, and little gifts (first place to offer coffee and water bottles for free in our room). Comfortable bed and pillows, nice little balcony to enjoy the Setúbal vibe and great breakfast with again, an attentive and warm service. Located in the perfect spot to visit the old city within walking distance.

We spent one night in this hotel, to reach the south of Portugal.
Everything was perfect, the hotel is very nicely decorated, in an art deco style, very elegant. The receptionist who received us was really very friendly and gave us all the necessary information.
The rooms are very well equipped, and the breakfast which is taken in a room upstairs is also very generous, it is in the form of a buffet.
The hotel is also close to the marina where there are several restaurants.
We therefore confirm all the very positive reviews of this hotel, you can go there with your eyes closed.
In addition you will be welcomed with a glass of Moscatel from Setubal!

Well located hotel in the historic center of Setùbal.
Very close to the port and about 15 minutes walk from the train and bus station to go to other locations such as Lisbon, Sintra, Belém etc.
The treatment by those who work there is excellent.
At all times they are aware of what you may lack for the theme of the rooms or to be able to park the car near the hotel (as all parking nearby is paid).
They are very professional because if you ask them about any place or place they explain everything perfectly and without any problem.
To put some but breakfast is a little sparse in variety and has no elevator since it is a building of more than 100 years and they can not put it.
It has a super nice decoration and very current.

A beautiful independent hotel in the centre of Setubal.
Here you will get an exceptional, personalised, experience, where nothing is too much bother for the staff.

We were welcomed with a delicious, complimentary, glass of Moscatel upon arrival to the hotel.
I personally received detailed guidance regarding the best local places to visit, where to eat and information regarding gastronomic specialties of the area- which I loved.

One member of staff knew that our family enjoyed lots of coffee and made sure that our rooms were always topped up, without even having to ask.

Bedrooms are clean, stylish, and comfortable. There are lots of beautiful communal rooms furnished with armchairs and reading materials.

Don’t hesitate to book this place if you’re coming to Setubal. You won’t regret it.

Rio Art Hotel is an absolute gem: beautifully decorated in an old renovated home with amazing rooms, each one different in decor, modern art Portuguese style. Taste and skill by the owners and operated by wonderful staff members who all get along, have fun and mainly provide excellent service to us, their clients, spoil us, serve a fabulous breakfast, look after us with help for sights, restaurants, outings etc. Nothing is ever difficult for them. You get the feeling that they become your best friends.
The rooms have good space, the bed is comfortable, the bathroom generous.
The outstanding staff dedication to clients and their sense of humour are just so delightful that the only thing you want to do is coming back!
Well done team! I will be back.

We loved this small boutique hotel, which has been beautifully renovated and decorated. It has lots of character and is extremely comfortable.

We were warmly welcomed when we checked in and given lots of helpful information about Setubal and local restaurants. Sem Horras in particular, which we really enjoyed. The hotel itself though is ideally situated right on the edge of the old town, which means restaurants are all walkable.

Our room was on the top floor, with a lovely leafy outlook. It was very comfortable and there was also a lovely lounge area to sit in just outside our room, where we enjoyed the complimentary small bottle of Moscatel - a nice touch.

Breakfast was also very good with a good selection, included smoked salmon to go with my scrambled eggs.

I have to give a special thank you to all the staff at the hotel, who without exception were all very friendly and helpful and contributed to the enjoyment of our stay at this delightful hotel.

Just one small point. There is no lift so it might not suit anyone who has difficulty walking up stairs. Having said that the staff carried our suitcases to our room for us, so we had no problem.

The price they quote you is for single rooms even if it is written 2 people in the double room! There response is that they know it is not correct but it is the decision of their boss. So accept it or find a new hotel. Total scam !!! Do not book this hotel.

Setúbal was just an overnight stay in our two week trip to Portugal. However, this hotel and the city itself made it a very memorable stop.

The hotel staff was wonderful - so helpful and friendly. They really made the hotel experience nice. The hotel itself is perfectly located. Walking distance to everything. The hotel itself is gorgeous. Updated and a Retro Art vibe. The rooms were beautiful. Breakfast was included as well as a welcome gift bag with a small bottle of local wine - such a nice touch.

If you’re visiting Portugal, highly recommend a stop through Setúbal, and especially a stay at the Rio Art Hotel!!

What is the difference between a superior room and a premium room other than price?
Answer from AlbertoCoimbra
Rio de Janeiro, RJ231 contributions85 helpful votes
The mains differences are the size and location of the room. Those who face the street have probably noise during the night. But nothing that could really annoy anyone. Once the windows are closed, everything is fine.

You could have parking on the streets that are pretty safe or you could use the parking they have some kind of agreement to give you free parking at a walking distance.
