we didn't book in advance, we just got in and ask for availability... the men at the entrance specified proudly that is the cheapest hotel around setubal. sincerely i was glad to spend some money more to have something better. really poor the room (old tv, no bar, bed uncomfy, bathroom not so clean and thin walls)

We stayed here just for one night, so that we can rest from a long trip.
We booked a couples room specifically, and there they wanted to give us a double bed room... when I complain they trade the room, but it was for smokers, so the smell was awful and I would prefer the double bed if I knew, but I was so tired, I did not want to go back to the reception and complain again. The only person in the staff was not nice.
The room was not perfectly clean and the smell was terrible (smoking room).
It has some snacks to eat, that was good, and the outside of the hotel was also nice.
overall, I do not recommend this average hotel

We stayed for 4 nights in September 2011. The hotel gives you exactly what you expect for the price - small room, but clean and fresh enough. The position is excellent right at highway to Lisbon (yet very calm place) and close to downtown and wonderful beaches. The staff is very helpful, speaks good English. Free wifi and parking.

The most frustrating organization I ever had to deal with. When I arrived at the hotel they said that the air conditioner was broken, which they could have just called and let me know before, but anyways, they said I could cancel my reservation and get my money back in a week. Called them a 100x times because of the refund...to this day I am still waiting for my refund. You have been warned :)

We stayed here in early August. The Air Con DID NOT work at all during the time we stayed here, and the room was like a suana! The staff changed every day, so no one took any action to fix the air con. Other guests had asked to move rooms, but the air con still didnt work. Breakfast was very minimal, and basic.

This is the worst Campanile hotel I have EVER stayed in (I have stayed in about 15 in europe and UK) the staff were miserable and did not care, no cleaning was done unless you asked for it, no towels were changed, the kettle did not work, the bed sheets were worn and old, the pillows were stained, the air conditioning did not work, the third bed for my daughter was half under a work top, the curtains did not fit the windows, need I go on! breakfast was terrible and I now think it gave my wife food poisoning! I was with a group for a wedding and everybody had very similar expriences (see above)

The staff were unhappy, unhelpful, and seemed as though they were annoyed we were staying there. When we complained they were unhelpful and often ignored our problems. The air conditioning in multiple rooms was very poor and even after one couple moved 4 times, the problem was still not resolved. The bar ran out of beer, coke and water one night and the staff did not seem to care. When we arrived the outside lighting was off and was dangerous. One couple arrived at 12 noon to check in and their room was not ready, they returned at 5pm and still had to wait until 6:30 before it was finally ready. The safety deposit box is not good. Only one member of staff had a key and was only available at random times throughout the day. On Friday they left at 3pm and told us they would not return until 9am on Monday. The breakfast was poor, often missing groups of food, and when asked for more, the staff gave a shrug and nothing happened. The rooms only were provided with bath towels, not hand towels, this was the same in all 9 rooms we had. The rooms mostly provide a single plug socket in the bathroom, which is extremely dangerous considering the one in my room had a large crack down the side. The lights in at least half of the rooms did not work 100%. More than half of the shutter blinds were jammed and did not work. We were not given a choice of whether we wanted twin or double, unlike as stated on the website, and when we asked for some to be changed the staff were unhappy and argumentative.

Overall I would never stay in this hotel ever again, and neither would any of the 19 people in my party. The hotel almost ruined our holiday in Portugal.

Stayed her for 5 days with a wedding party in August. Never, ever again. The staff clearly were not happy in their work – any complaints, which were numerous, were received with a shrug (which incidentally was not due to a language barrier as some spoke perfectly good English). The air conditioning did not work properly (if at all) and in a pokey room in 40 degree heat was not enjoyable!! Although it appeared to come on miraculously when enough people complained. There was little or no housekeeping – sheets and towels were only changed after the 4th day, following numerous requests. No hand towels, only bath towels. Also had to ask for toilet rolls. We had a triple room as we had a child with us and whilst we appreciate this does limit space when you add a extra bed to the room, did not expect our child to have to sleep with half his bed under a worktop type counter as there was insufficient room for the bed. I thought I read on the website that there should be complimentary bottled water and tea/coffee making facilities in each room – I think there fairies must have had ours!! Breakfast – don’t bother – very limited and poor and sometimes not enough for the number of guests. The metal cold tray table where you would assume you would keep the cheese, ham, butter etc., in such a hot environment was not switched on and was certainly never cold – in fact one day at least (we only tried it once after that)) the butter was rancid. We appreciate this was a cheap hotel but everything was clearly done on the cheap. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone, even if it was the last place on earth to find a bed for the night.

Based on reviews from other travelers, I was very nervous when my husband booked this hotel for our 12 hour stay before an early flight. This is a French hotel chain; The hotel clerk speaks multiple languages. the room I was very clean with a large bed, amenities coffeemaker biscuits, refrigerator, hair dryer, tv and telephone in the room, Parking right outside our room door. Because we left so early we did not try the breakfast. The drive was about 20 minutes to the airport. Only frustration was a weak signal for wifi as we were at the end of the building but signal was great when sitting in large reception area.

I made the mistake of booking the Camanile for 2 nights for a business trip. As is so often the case the choice of places to stay in Lison is always difficult with so little available accommodation in the area. I selected purely based on its proximity to the office I was visiting.

I am not a fussy person, and a good bed and clean room is all I ask, but I have to say the experience was a shocker.

Unfortunately, the room stank of stale cigarette smoke, to the point it made me feel quite ill. I complained to reception but was told that a) there were no more rooms and b) what can you do, people break the rules! - all said in the nicest possible way.

The bed itself was comfortable, and despite the bath only being about 4 foot long, the bathroom was adequate.

Then we come to breakfast, which as continental breakfasts go was mediocre, but then what do you expect for 6 Euros. However the coffee was absolutely awful, in fact I would go as far as to say it is the worst coffee I have ever tasted. For some reason it tasted of oxtail soup.

I guess for the price what did I expect, but seriously, if people cant obey the no smoking policy then fit some smoke detectors and clamp down on it. Also spend some time and effort fumigating the rooms to make them habitable for non smokers.

Staff were all very friendly though.... but that's about it.
