Stayed three nights in Guest House Bocage in Setúbal, Portugal and found this guest house / hotel value for the money.

The location is central within in nice walking area with shops and cafes, walking distance to the sea shore park.

Breakfast was good, no specialities though. Room was clean and no carpets.

The personnel in Hotel Bocage was very friendly and warm, I felt welcome every time entering.
Would definitely stay again.

The Bocage is a it little hostel situated in the old city of Setubal. It is perfectly located in a tiny side street from the main shopping street. We have been received in a very friendly way. The hotel is tastefully decorated and the room are clean. Not very spacious but ok. The only major problem was the mattress. Impossible the sleep on without back pain. The breakfast was standard but sufficient. All in all not a bad place to go especially for that price.

We were very happy with our stay here. Good price that represened value for money. It was very clean and though the rooms, especially the bathroom, are quite small, we found this a very comfortable hotel. Ideal location, central to the waterfront, the markets, the main square etc, but still very quiet. Perhaps a little more attention to detail required eg water in shower could be hotter, no soap in dispenser.

We come back every year! Ever since the first time I went to Portugal we stay here. 5 years now. The staff are absolutely lovely and remember us. Breakfast is great, all you hear in the morning is the Bon Dias from the staff. Nice kick start coffee, yum yum. Beds are great and there are ALOT of English channels. I can't really fault this hotel. Prices are ever so slightly increasing every now and again, but in all honesty that's the case with everything. See you next year Bocage.

This hotel was idealy placed in the centre of town which was lively during the day but quiet at night. The staff were the most indiferent I think I have ever come across. When checking in it was an inconvience for them to address us. The room was basic but well worth the money and okay although there was a plastic sheet on one of the beds. We had to change room as the first room was chocking with smoke fumes (the cleaner had not even aired the room).
Breakfast should have been okay but the staff were too busy seeing that they themselves were fed to fill up for the guests ( I actually saw them take the last of something on a plate before the guest could reach it). It was very strange to watch guest stuggle while every one of the staff filled their boots. It is probably no wonder they did not have time to air the rooms. If I was the manger of this hotel I would certainly worry about the staff I had employed (as well as them eating the profits)

Room clean, bathroom not so clean, quite, bed okay.
Reception good and friendly.
Breakfast: products were okay/standard, but we had to wait 15-20min to get into the breakfastroom because it was full and there was no space to sit!! Very unprofessional!!

Great position on a quiet pedestrian street in the centre of the old town. Very easy to walk to lovely restaurants, the river and other attractions. The room was quite small but still very comfortable and clean. A nice breakfast was included in the very reasonable price.

Residencia Bocage, located just off the main Setubal boulevard Avenue - Avenida Luisa Todi, within the pedestrian old town zone offers bed and breakfast in small, clean, well appointed rooms. Breakfast is a typically standard Portugese hotel (continental) breakfast. The AC/Heater, necessary in Dec. and Jan., worked efficiently and even dried rain-soaked clothes! The English-speaking reception staff were very friendly and helpful. The residencia is less than 5 min. on foot from the bus station and about 10min. from the ferry harbor for the crossing to the Troija beaches or mainline rail station. The old-town pedestrian shopping zone has a good choice of boutiques (Zara, Pull&Bear etc) and cafes.

A well-located guesthouse in Setubal for a good price. The rooms were basic and a little dated, but provided a clean and quiet bed for the night. Do note that safes are only available for selected rooms. The staff were very sweet and helpful and the breakfast wasn't bad either. I'd stay again.

we stayed in this small hotel in the heart of the city for 3 nights in january 2009.
it was just at the end of refurbishment. it was clean and comfortable, but the rooms are very small and there are no communal areas except the dining room and reception. i don't think i would be able to stay here for more than a long weekend due to the size of the room and no alternative place to sit and no outside sapece.. we could only just walk around the bed. it may be quite hot in the summer, as our room only had a small window, although the room did appear to have air con. breakfast is literally bread, butter, jam and tea/coffee. i would recommend either haivng breakfast in a nearby cafe (there are lots) or going across the street to the supermarket and buying food there for breakfast/snacks.the reception staff were helpful and friendly and are there 24 hour a day. i even lost something of value whilst there, they foudn it and kindly posted it back to me in the uk. there is plenty of parking nearby. note there is no lift. it is a great location to explore the city.
