Pros: clean, comfortable rooms. Cons: no tea/coffee in room, basic breakfast (virtually no hot food - not even bacon!), Restaurant only really serves pizza - ok, but not exceptional, location not really near anything useful. Billed as Sintra - but actually a short drive away; we were advised to park at Sintra railway station and walk from there. Driving to Sintra itself is *not* a good idea. Most disappointing aspect was lack of evening options - the hotel is essentially on an industrial estate, so there are very few restaurants or bars in walking distance that are open in the evening (though there is a 24-hour McDonald's nearby, if that helps).
Stayed here for a few days as a base to visit the Sintra Monuments. Hotel is clean and tidy and the rooms comfortable with a pod type bathroom. There is little food options here, the hotel serves pizza and there is a McDonalds down the road. Whatever monuments you are visiting you need to travel so this is a good base the hotel has a pack of the attractions on checkin. Breakfast is good if busy and to be enjoyed. We had a car and visited several of the attractions, see my separate reviews. We also took the opportunity to go to the coast which is another option for accommodation.
This is a basic hotel aimed at business travelers. Pros: Good breakfast Convenient location, close to shopping "Green" toiletries - large dispensers instead of single use bottles Convenient location if driving, right off the freeway and 20 mins to Cascais and Estoril and the tourist attractions in Sintra. Checkin and checkout were efficient. In-house bar serving snacks/pizza in the evening. Cons: Tiny room. We paid extra for the third bed - seems to be a cleverly designed built in feature. But even without the third bed the room would be very small as there is barely a foot between the beds and the wall. Tiny bathroom - appears to be some kind of pre-fab unit. Overall the room and bath was reminiscent of a cruise ship, probably 160 sf in total? Combo soap/shower gel/shampoo/conditioner - was in a well-designed fixed single container. Good concept but all-in-one meant that it didn't work very well? Parking is limited. There is a huge (by European standards) driveway that wraps around the hotel that was cordoned off and could easily have been used to provide parking with proper (one-way) circulation.…
Ibis Sintra is a good hotel, in a location just a little far from the attractions. The instalations are good and the employees are friendly and helpfull. As in others Ibis hotels in Portugal, concerning the room air conditioning facilities, guest must have the option to choose if they want cooling or heating regardless the outside weather conditions. Unfortunately, inside the room, the air conditioning control is not available.
Really enjoyed my stop over. Needed to book somewhere last minute due to changes of plan. Cheap and cheerful. Room was compact but well laid out. The a availability of channels on the TV was good especially as I speak no Portuguese. Stand out for me was that breakfast was until 12. I’ve never had that before in a hotel and it meant that we didn’t feel rushed on the morning and I could grab a drink on my way out. Nice job and good enough service. This is the second Ibis I’ve stayed in (an Ibis Styles in France), I definitely look to book this chain again as I often road trip with the family to Portugal, Spain and France. Really good!
"If you can get a room that is not facing the main road in front of the hotel. It will be quieter."Read full review
