The workers were all very helpful and friendly. Very clean Hotel. The people cleaning the rooms did a great job every day. The only thing was the buffet was not good every night, and not hot. We could not get into any of the restaurants because they were full every night. The breakfast was great and Dario was always smiling and took care of us. We will go back !

The Savoy Palace was renovated with attention to detail. From the tropical gardens surrounding the beautifully designed pool to the vertical greenery, every attention was given to give the hotel a living, organic feel. Even pigeons and gulls are drawn away not by chemicals but by a falconer. And not just any falcon, but a Madeira-own species. Yes, that's the level of detail. It's not a small hotel by any measure, yet it doesn't feel oppressive or bulky. Like the wavy design, the architecture is inviting instead of imposing: you flow through it instead of going through it. If you are hesitant about the size of the hotel and boutique or cosier hotels are more your style, don't let this put you off. It's nothing like those large hotel complexes you see on so many rivieras, from Rhodes to the Caribbean and yonder. If the architects' brief was to recreate the Garden of Eden, they did a bloody good job at it: it IS that good! Most of all, what impressed us most was the service. How often do hotels, beautifully built and located hotels, end up disappointing you - and sometimes ruining the whole experience? Not the Savoy. The staff is meticulous in every aspect: cleanliness (and we're sticklers for that!), organisation and service. Especially during these times of COVID and the stress it causes when travelling, the staff was ready to help us with the necessary paperwork, where the testing centres were (you need a test to get in and nother to get out, even vaccinated) - all seamless and fluid. There's absolutely no stress. You're here to relax and enjoy: from the tropical jungle by the pool up to the stars at the uppermost Galaxy restaurant and bar at the top (best views of all Funchal of the New Tear fireworks). We will most definitely return. Garden of Eden, indeed!

Room Tip: Get us high up as possible, although the lush garden at ground floor offer a fantastic setting, too

Had a very nice stay here last week of August 2021. The hotel itself is large so bring your walking shoes with you :) It's a close walk to town, down a hill then you're in Funchal centre. Great location. 3 pools - large outdoor one, which was quite busy most of the time, an indoor one which was a lot smaller, and an adult only pool on the top floor. Drinks that were served upstairs were well priced, as was the food you could get whilst sunbathing. Be warned though that the inside posh bars are more expensive (and were very quiet all the times we were there). Rooms were very luxurious and maid service very nice. Our second trip to Madeira, first to the Savoy Palace but we will be back! Thanks for having us!!!
