Our seventh visit, I think. This being our first ever booked via Jet2, who we will definitely use again in the future. All the staff are amazing. Maintenance and cleanliness of buildings, facilities, the pools and the beautiful garden areas is excellent. The wonderful staff in all areas are so friendly and helpful. There is an excellent covid policy and measures taken, with hygiene gel located everywhere. If you haven't been here, you will not be disappointed. In our opinion, the buffet breakfast and dinner we had is the best of any European hotel we ever stayed in. Including a 5* in Crete! Thank you to all at Porto Mare!
Excellent hotel, everything thought out during the covid pandemic, very clean and the rooms have little added extras. Beds and pillows are divine. Staff friendly and helpful, breakfast was amazing. Can’t fault this wonderful hotel and all of the facilities.
This was our first ever trip to the island of Madeira and we will definitely be returning in future. This hotel has extremely helpful staff right from the cleaners to the maintenance staff, receptionists to waiters. The hotel is large enough to feel like you have lots of areas to be in and plenty to do, without it being large enough to lose its personal touches. Our room was much larger than we expected as we only booked a standard room, bed was huge and the balcony had a nice view over the seafront area and adjacent hotel. The room was right at the end of the corridor away from the lifts but we really didn't mind as that meant the noise was minimal. We did bed and breakfast as we like to explore other restaurants for our evening meals but we decided to stay in the hotel for their Portuguese Buffet night and we were spoilt for choice, with everything being very fresh despite being a buffet, and lots of savouries and sweet options from Portugal and around the world. Breakfast is served in the same restaurant and whilst it was a bit chaotic some mornings the food and service made up for it. Items are constantly being replenished and the staff are welcoming and helpful. Poolside bar is open even in November and does a good selection of cocktails, as well as other alcohol, soft drinks and lunch / snacks. Very nice attentive staff here too. A word of warning, the outdoor pool with the sun loungers is not heated at all and I couldn't swim in it as it was freezing despite the weather being in the 20s with sunlight, I did hear lots of guests mention this but for me it wasn't a problem as the main indoor/outdoor pool is heated and adequate. Nice warm outdoor jacuzzi as well. If you want to book spa treatments, do it before you arrive as they are always very busy. Same goes for steam room and sauna. Plenty of room for swimming each day we were there though with no booking necessary. Pool towels provided in every room which you can exchange for new ones at anytime in the spa area. The pool team are very good at maintaining the grounds and cleaning without it disturbing you while you relax. There are a few cats that live on site that are also friendly, presumably employed as pest control. For those who are interested in nature, there is an incredible number of different plants and flowers growing in the gardens and the grounds of the hotel. Free WiFi was strong throughout the hotel and didn't malfunction at all. There are a lot of older couples staying at this hotel and it is obvious that the entertainment caters for this, however we didn't mind at all as we were looking for a relaxing break without party animals shouting the place down and that is what we got. We did speak to a few younger couples and everyone seemed to be happy with the hotel as well. We will be back next year, thank you for everything!…
Awesone place, incredible services. But the hotel’s masterpiece is surely: the reception! The receptionist looks like a beautiful elf, the mythological creature “Nanelf”. The Legend tells about his magic hair and how it can change your life if you shake them<3
I am staying in this hotel and was allocated a bedroom a considerable distance from the reception area and dining room.To prevent the amount of walking required within the hotel I asked if it would be possible to have a sun lounger on my verandah.Despite the fact there is an influx of loungers I was told it would have to be authorised by the management. That was 36 hours ago and I still haven’t received a reply.A lovely holiday spoiled by inflexible staff.
