My first impressions of the hotel were just ok - for a 4 star hotel, the decor felt outdated, the room was small, and the walk up the hill is exhausting. But over my 6 night stay, the amenities completely won me over. First of all, the rooftop deck is beyond luxurious. From the unparalleled view, to the queen sized beds. The only disappointment was the hot tub which was lukewarm at best. I ended up only using it once. There's always food on site which was a lifesaver when I would come back from long tour days, there's a pool table in the basement which I didn't discover until my last day, the nightly entertainment is always fun and varied, the service is great, and the breakfast buffet was something I genuinely looked forward to. Overall, I'd say the hotel itself is a 3 and the amentities are a 5. There are tons of great restaurants in the area (Chris's Place, Franco's Corner, MadMarket are stand-outs) so luckily there was no need to go all the way into town but a hotel shuttle would be super helpful as the walk back from town center is rough. Still, I grew to love this place more and more every day and would highly recommend it for someone looking for a relaxing stay. …
This was a far, far better hotel than we expected! Loved every moment we were there! The buffet was excellent, we looked forward to all the dishes that they prepared. Best of all was the spa! Hate to leave the spa behind!
My family and I spent Christmas 2021 here and enjoyed it very much. The hotel was clean, conveniently located, and had some nice facilities. The rooms were spotless and well-furnished. The breakfast was very good and filling, so we were often able to skip lunch. One suggestion: have a breakfast station that features the wonderful local foods, especially breads and fruits. The staff was helpful and cheery, and the bar was very good. The roof terrace had great views and a jacuzzi, and the steam and sauna rooms were greatly appreciated after a long day of hiking. As with most of Madeira, it helps to be reasonably fit because it is quite hilly. Thanks for helping us have a wonderful vacation!
Despite the fact this hotel is a TUI Blue & previously a Savoy, it retains a lovely family atmosphere. Hotel made an excellent effort over the Xmas & New Year periods to make it a wonderful stay. The only negative for some will be it’s location, but you should be aware before you go, so not knock it in reviews!!
Lovely hotel away from the bustle of the city centre but close enough to walk there, views of the sea and mountains. Staff all very attentive, everywhere was spotlessly clean hand sanitiser in all entry exit points.
