The Guest House was difficult to find. We don't speak Portuguese and it became something of a nightmare looking for the place. The room we stayed in was very small WITHOUT A WINDOW. The only light came from the adjacent bathroom. When I asked for a brighter room I was told that one vacant at the front would be very... More

We truly enjoyed our stay in Alvares Cabral Guest House. Raul and his Dad are amazing! Wine tasting evening was a pure gem: Raul's Dad is one of the most kind, intelligent and nice people we've ever met. Thank you! It was our pleasure to spend that evening with you. Rooms are nicely decorated. There is a cool backyard where... More

Staying at the Cabral guest house is like staying with really good friends. The rooms and property are in great condition. The thing I really like about the property is the great backyard where you can go outside and enjoy the sun. It is a bit of a walk to get there from the main train station but not too... More

If you are planning a visit to Porto then I recommend this guest house. As soon as you arrive at the front door you are made to feel welcome. Finding the guest house is made easy due to directions being provided in advance. It is within walking distance to the major city sites and river, as well as the metro... More

Not sure why I booked the 'economy room'. Must be cos it was the only one left then. Room (sleeps 3) was in basement facing the road. It was almost as tho you were sleeping next to the car tires on a very busy road. Hence noisy. Luckily people and cars in Porto wake up late (& sleep late too),... More

Our room faces the back garden on the second floor and we love it because it is quiet. I love the tall ceilings that gives great ventilation from the window that opens to the backyard. The room has charming touches such as the framed tiles and stamps and very clean. Most importantly, the host is so knowledgeable, friendly and accommodating... More

We stayed at the guest house for two days during our trip in Portugal and were thoroughly impressed. The service was superb, the room spacious, clean and comfortable and the breakfast served in the garden was simply excellent. The guest house is very conveniently located, just a short walk from the main attractions and a 5-minute walk from Trinidade station.... More

Stayed in 2nd floor street facing room, which had two twin beds side by side in the middle of the room and some additional furniture. The room was clean, as was the shared bathroom. The whole building was very secure and the staff is a family that made us feel very welcome and gave us great directions around the city.

We stayed in the economy room, which was in the basement! However, it has windows and the room itself actually looks pretty nice! Since it's next to a crowded street, it can get a bit noisy at night, but nothing you can't live with. Everything is extremely clean and for what you pay, it's definitely worth it. If you have...
