Visiting Porto with friends we liked the theatrical theme and found the accommodation and breakfast very good. We had a room on the top floor overlooking the back - might not be the most scenic of views you'll ever see but it was quiet and there is a small balcony outside the gym area on the same top floor. It...

From the descriptions of previous reviewers, I was expecting an older hotel so I was quite surprised that the building was in fact modern. Our room was not quite ready when we arrived so we went out for a wander for a couple of hours. This hotel is very central and only a short walk for the Hop on/off bus...

Located in the Rua Sa Da Bandeira, this hotel has a perfect location to visit and explore Porto. The hotel is set up (like the name already say) like a theatre. Standard, but nice breakfast. Clean, beautiful rooms. Highly recommend restaurant for lunch or dinner. Very friendly staff who are always ready to assist you. Recommended hotel!

Excellent service. The staff are extremely helpful and nothing is too much trouble. Had a suite on the 6th floor with a balcony. Very spacious and well equipped. Plenty of choice for breakfast with hot and cold dishes. Turn down service in the evening was provided with some delicious almond biscuits. The decor is unusual and quite dark, but you...

Many have written about how dark the hotel is in a negative way. It is themed in a theatre style with black and white movies shown in the bar of an evening. It was a fun experience and we liked it. Importantly, we, like all other visitors, knew about it before going because of tripadvisor. if you don't think you'll...

We spend 3 wonderful nights in this hotel! Highly recommend this place! The hotel offers vallet parking for their guests, which is convenient for such place as Porto (streets are often very tight, parking places are limited). The place itself is really stylish! Hotel looks new. The staff was very friendly offering to us a room upgrade and a bottle...

The hotel is unique because it is modeled after the theater. It is like walking into a movie theater because it is very dark and all the hallways and lobby make you feel like you're in an old theater. The rooms were average size and well appointed. Everything was extremely clean and the staff was more than helpful. The breakfast...

My wife and I greatly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Teatro. I'm greatly surprised to hear some of the negative comments made recently--especially about the staff, who were as nice and helpful as any in my recent memory. Sure, the theater theme can get a little kitschy--but let the place have its fun. Nice rooms. Yeah, the glass door on...

Came to stay with 3 other couples for a 4-night mini-break. The positives: right in the centre of town; staff very obliging; breakfast good and plentiful; interesting theatrical decor throughout; good bar area, good bar service; bedrooms had good quality linen and pillows and the fittings were also of reasonable quality. The negatives: very few actually. The bedrooms were a...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Hotel Teatro arose from the spot where the Baquet Theatre was inaugurated in 1859. A hundred and fifty-one years later, the unique, refined and bohemian environment of the Theatre has been revived here in a hotel. The Reception represents a box office, where each guest receives a ticket to access their room. The Restaurant and Bar have become the new Palco and Plateia, offering creations for a discerning palate. The inner courtyard is a versatile garden or a quiet and secluded haven from the tumult of the city. The 74 comfortable rooms and suites are colored in gold and bronze, and the gym on the top floor transforms the Hotel into a true arena for action and relaxation. ... more   less
