The perfect location for summer holidays or a golf break
My husband and I stayed at La Cala in September, taking advantage of a promotion they were offering. The hotel and the pool area are beautiful and are set in the middle of a golf course with stunning views. The spa hydrotherapy circuit was really good. Unfortunately the restaurants in the hotel are closed at the moment but the golf course clubhouse is a two minute walk and all the meals we had were very good. The staff were all very friendly. One complaint, we had been asked our arrival time when I phoned but a room was not ready when we arrived. We were early so could understand if we had to wait but the hotel was pretty empty so we were surprised a room wasn’t available. When we did get our room, 1.5 hours later, the bathroom in our room could have used a few minutes more from housekeeping, particularly the sink drain which still had hairs in it. Saying that we would stay here again. …
A beautiful tapas menu combined with-an amazing service from restaurant staff. Astonishing tapas presentation and with so many fantastic flavours...... it was just delicious to be honest. Also having the amazing opportunity to look around at the beautiful golf view. A Perfect place for relaxing and enjoying the pleasures of life. We had a stunning Friday evening as did our child. A place to retrieve our energy, we are already looking to return and keep enjoying more of the fabulous tapas.E
Un hermoso spa con todo lo que necesitas. Hay piscinas con una bonita vista en el fondo. Además, salas de vapor, una sauna y mucho más. This is a lovely spa that we live near and have been to many times. It is an amazing experience that you won’t regret. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the spa has a number of water features, rooms and more. Thank you very much!
Once again Pablo and his team continue to deliver excellence in all areas. I was a member here for several years and have returned to La Cala from Madrid for the summer. The spa was always spotless - now the cleaners constantly rotate and deliver the highest level of cleanliness and politeness, all under Pablo outstanding leadership. There are clear new guidelines about numbers in the spa - all carefully monitored and adhered to. The gym conditions are EXCELLENT with a clear booking policy and high standards of cleaning. It´s not just the cleaning and COVID protocols he has effortlessly put into place - it is that - you are made to feel special and important every time to go. I cannot recommend Pablo, Irma, Szabi - everyone more highly. Even collecting the gym card, you are greeted, smiled at and made to feel at home. An absolute gem of a place that really is a haven for the soul. Thank you Pablo.…
First of all let me explain that we arrived for our week in La Cala on 13 March. Only managed one round of golf and couple of meals before Spain went into lockdown. We were moved from La Cala to their sister Hotel in Benalmádena. The staff and Spanish people in both places could not have been more helpful in a very stressful time for us and for them. This was our 4th visit to La Cala over several years. Our first was a big treat for our 25th Wedding Anniversary in 2006 - and it was a treat! Over the years the hotel has changed greatly. Even the decor which is now much more neutral than Moroccan doesn't work! The outside space and golf courses are still lovely. Well looked after and relaxing. La Cala used to be such a special experience but the hotel has deteriorated over the years. The rooms are tired - chipped furniture (not sure if it's an attempt at shabby chic but doesn't work on cheap furniture). After having to take our luggage to our room ourselves - two cases and two sets of golf clubs - the first room we were shown to was not cleaned properly and we were moved to another tired, but improved room. Do not pay for a superior room. You will get a larger balcony - although all balconies are adequate - but your bathroom is much smaller. The standard rooms are much better. The hotel used to be a nice relaxed environment for couples and groups of golfers. Now it seems to be dominated by large groups of noisy, drinking too much, lads outings that, quite frankly, spoil the La Cala experience for couples. We will continue to golf at La Cala when we visit Spain in the future but we will not stay in the hotel again. To stay at La Cala is still quite expensive but you just don't get the special experience that was there in the past. We ate, on our first night, in the Tapas Restaurant. Food was good. Service also good. On this occasion we did not get time to visit the Spa. In summary the golf course and surroundings remain stunning but the hotel does not live up to the same standard. With changes, the entire complex could be magnificent. It deserves that attention. …
