We had a great stay at the Kimpton. We were welcomed by Anne with a drink and a tour of the hotel - which was very nice. The hotel looks and feels very luxurious with a unique touch. The Spa is great and we had two messages. The staff was very attentive and polite. Special shout-outs to Anne (Reception), Toey, Pui, Aon (SPA) and of course to Aof (Shade Pool Bar). They did a great job.
Our Boxing Day stay in the Kimpton Kitalay Samui was the second best hotel stay I've experienced in 40+ years of travel. It certainly helped that we were upgraded to a beachfront villa before arrival, but from the moment we arrived, we were given VIP treatment by everyone from the porters to the hotel manager and his lovely retriever, Emma. The hotel has only been open under the Kimpton banner for a year or so, but the entire experience was refined to a degree suggestive of a deeper history. Also of note was the breakfast buffet, which was the most extensive and best quality of any we sampled at five different hotels we visited in Thailand on this trip. While there were quite a few families with children, the overall atmosphere was much quieter and more laid-back than we experienced the week before at the Melia, which is located at the other end of the same beach. In fact, given a choice, we would absolutely recommend the Kimpton over the Melia to family and friends. We can't wait to return for a much longer stay.…
This a lovely little gem. It's a family friendly venue with lots to do for kids. But if you want to escape the sounds of our little ones you can book the other side of the hotel. This is lovely place, and really well priced for what it offers with the beach, pool and facilities. Shout out to the amazing Kitti for making my brief stay seamless and organizing everything for me.
Warmed welcome back by Khun Palm and khun Owen. Resort facilities are perfect, breakfast was nice especially soft shell crab Benedict. All the staff are nice and friendly. Thank you for your hospitality and we are definitely come back soon.
An amazing family friendly hotel with one of the best kids clubs I have seen. Hotel is a nice size with all facilities easy to access. The beach at the front is public but is located at the end of the cove so is more private. Only drawback is when it rains there are not covered walkways to access the main building but umbrellas are provided in the room.
I can't believe this is a five star hotel. I have to say, the design of the hotel and the facility is nice and beautifu but the pool is a bit smalll. When speaking about service, that is disaster. During the breakfast time, there is not enought staff, no one clearn the table, cofe have to wait. another thing i want to point out is no one pick up the phone call. When ever I call to service center, no one picks up the phone call. We try to speak to the manager and there is a lady Ms. Haly apologizeto us. She said if we need any help we can speak with her directly. It is good to hear that. But the hotel really have to increase the service quality.
We recommended this shop! We spent the time to do 1 hour foot massage while we were waiting for the room ready. They are very nice and supportive. We recommend Pui and GiB! If you stay at the KIMPTON, try this shop and have wonderful experiences!
We were super excited to experience the new Kimpton in Samui. The beautiful beachfront property formed part of the final leg of our 14-night stay across IHG properties in Thailand. We mainly travelled to Samui to stay at this brand-new hotel - we couldn't wait! The reality certainly wasn't what we expected, and this has been one of the worst stays in almost 20 years of visiting Thailand. We now seriously regret selecting Kimpton for our 4-night stay and will not be returning! Honestly, dollar-for-dollar, you'll do better almost anywhere else. The Kimpton experience has left us with such a bad taste that we're questioning whether Thailand is now the right destination for future trips. Thailand's hospitality has shifted from warm and welcoming to pretentious and indifferent. If you're an influencer here for the photo opportunities (many are), or you enjoy spending your holidays surrounded by young children in nappies scattered throughout the resort, then Kimpton may be perfect. However, if you're like us (a child-free millennial couple looking to relax) - we'd recommend giving Kimpton a hard pass. The massive issue is that you'll likely be stuck at the (reasonably small) main pool unless you have a pool access room. Sure, there is a large volume of lounges on the beach - however, it's like the hunger games trying to get one. Luckily, you'll be able to see some fantastic pools from your room - you can't use them, though! How can so many glowing reviews be so very wrong? Unfortunately, we've now realised that many positive reviews are based on visitors eating at the hotel (rather than staying) or highly incentivised influencer reviews. We have high status across every hotel brand, and we select IHG as they usually take care of their members. At Kimpton, Platinum means nothing - actually, less than nothing. We booked our stay 3-4 months before arriving, yet there was no room upgrade available. However, we quickly declined the opportunity to pay 4,500 THB per night for an upgrade (confusing, right? I thought upgrades weren't available). Worse still, we bumped into other guests with no IHG status who received complimentary upgrades throughout our stay. The manager (Kanita Onthum) advised us that she'd attempt to find a solution for us - then proceeded to ignore us for the remainder of our stay. We've had far better experiences at Holiday Inn (or even McDonald's) for less than 10% of the price. Positives - Housekeeping team is excellent - Kimpton rooms are new, with a high-quality bath for relaxing - 2 x Nespresso pods daily (note: Kimpton Bangkok provides x 4) - Laundry is reasonably priced by 5-star standards - Exceptionally pet-friendly with some great areas for your fur-iends - Beautiful location directly on the beach Negatives - Seriously overpriced for the quality - Very poor + slow check-in experience - Apathetic staff + manager at reception - Pool area has table tennis tables + pool table for children - AC didn't function in our room (resolved upon request) - Service, generally, is horrific - Breakfast items ordered via QR arrive after >30 minutes (or not at all) - Not appropriate for guests without children - Zero IHG status recognition - Outside guests can attend the Saturday brunch and use the facilities - 800 THB return taxi to Chaweng - Pools only open 9 am - 7 pm Tips - Book a pool access room, villa, or (ideally) another hotel …
The best hotel in koh samui All of the workers are very hospitality, especially AOF. The pool is amazing The room is big a very nice. The restaurant next to the pool has great fish and wine. Breakfast has many choices and all of them are very tasty.
