Nowhere near 5*, we were ready for the holiday so put up with a lot of the negatives listed below and retreated to the private beach and read for the majority of the time. Positives The private beach was great with sun loungers (some with broken slats, beware) and parasols provided for free (something free at least) The housekeeping staff...

What a great disappointment the stay in this hotel was. We stayed for 4 nights in September and it is nowhere near a 5 star. The location was good. The hotel is tired and in much need of renovation if they want to continue charging the very high prices that they are at the moment. The reception was very cold...

I've been coming to this hotel for 10 years. Every year there is a problem - location is fantastic and v convenient for me and the standards of the area hotel's are pretty poor. It's sad to say I've been seeing this hotel going downhill. It started as a great hotel. Stains in the carpet, indiffferent staff (the touristic university...

My husband and I had a spare last day in Greece that we wanted to spend not too far from the airport but outside Athens so we decided to stay here to relax on the beach and drive to temple of Poseidon. Free parking and free wifi were good. Our room looked a bit shabby. The carpet was stained in...

Nice hotel, nice staff, good food and generally pleasing, with nice pool and lovely beach. However, we, as a family of 2 adults and 2 kids aged 9, were misled by the hotel booking information into believing we would get more than we did, including seating area/couch in the room. We expected twins beds for the kids, but didn't and...

This is one of the best hotels around Athens coast. The hotel is located on beautiful beach and offers a true vacation. The staff is helpful and friendly. It is not crowded and even with full capacity you will not have a feeling of being jammed at the beach, like in almost every hotel around. Breakfast is great, offers variety...

The hotel's facilities are nice and met expectations for a five star hotel. We got one of the cheaper rooms which overlooks the car park and which aren't as nice as the bigger sea view rooms which do have a great view. The rooms are comfortable and clean but strangely designed in some respects (to was the size of a...

Excellent location and staff make this place well worth a stay... the staff cannot do enough for you to make your stay special, and are always welcoming you with a smile. The location is excellent but try to get a sea-view room on the 3/4th floors for the best view. We had a family room with two small under-10 kids...

Staying in Syntagma

Neighbourhood Profile
Syntagma
Perhaps the best place to get your bearings is Syntagma Square, crowned by the imposing Parliament building on its upper side and surrounded by other large structures, such as the exclusive Hotel Grande Bretagne. The grand avenues that lead towards Omonia are also full of massive Neoclassical edifices like the Numismatic Museum and those around smaller Platia Kolokotroni. Here you will find lots of travel agents, bookshops and fashion shops, especially on Ermou Street. Just south of Syntagma Square, you can take a breather in the lush National Gardens, which extend into the grounds of the Zappeio palace and beyond to the ancient Temple of Olympian Zeus.
