Our flight arrived just before noon and I knew we would be exhausted that day, so I booked us into the Plaka Hotel because of its location in the heart of the Plaka. Our room was ready when we arrived at 1pm so we were able to have a refreshing shower before heading out in search of lunch. We found...

My sister and I chose this hotel based off other Trip Advisor member’s praises. We were not disappointed. Rather the contrary. We were amazed at what a gem of a hotel this. Nestled in the very heart of the Plaka (central) part of Athens, it was the perfect location for getting to all the sites Athens has to offer. Literally...

We had a room for 3 people. They gave us a nice sized room, clean and modern. The breakfast is very good, lots of choices. A staff member comes around to help you plan your days activity or help in any way. The entire staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel is situated in the Plaka and is walking...

Dear SynBay, As a "top contributor" we really appreciate your review and "great" title. We thank you for your positive comments and details. As for the taxi to the airport the ride is as you mentioned 35 euro, but if you call from any other place(i.e. hotel, home) is plus 3 euro for the appointment. If it is asked more,...

We had an Acropolis-View room, but even if you don't splurge for one, the rooftop bar offers the same great view! The rooms were beautiful. Small, but with everything you need. Modern bathroom with a wonderful shower. Friendly staff, very eager to help point you in the direction of a good restaurant or site to see.

We only had one night at the Plaka Hotel, but came away feeling as if we'd gotten our money's worth. The hotel itself seems well-maintained and well-serviced. Rooms are modern and clean, beds comfortable, wi-fi connection good, etc. There is a well-lit bar area on the first floor (where a complete breakfast is served in the morning), where you can...

This hotel is perfectly situation in the Plaka in Athens. You just need to step out and you will find yourself overwhelmed with shopping and dining options. There are also plenty of taxis waiting outside the hotel to take you to destinations that aren't walking distance. The staff is very helpful and the views from the roof are once in...

We can only recommend staying at Plaka Hotel in Athens. It's very central, yet quiet. The rooms are spacy with air condition and free wi-fi. The breakfast buffet is good, yet nothing special, but it's a nice feature that you have access to the area all day and night with the ability to take a cup of coffee and a...

This hotel is perfectly located for the highlights of Athens. We stayed here for one night prior to a cruise. Great service. Loved complimentary local fruit in room and bottle of wine. 20 minute walk to Acropolis. Good location for shopping in Plaka. Exceeded expectations based on price in a major city. Some rooms have the same view of Acropolis that you get from the roof.

Staying in Plaka

Neighbourhood Profile
Plaka
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
