We really enjoyed our stay at the Plaka. It is in a great location, the staff are helpful, and the breakfast is great. Evening with a sun downer on the top floor with a view of the Parthenon is wonderful. Free tea and coffee every afternoon.

The hotel is just decent in terms of facilities and breakfast. I wouldn't say bad but nothing special. However the location is great very near to Syntagma square(5 min walk) about 45 mins from airport and sea port Piraeus. But considering that space is premium this hotel has ok sized room. No complaints as such. Staff helpful. Near to thousands...

Dear Ami_jajabor11, Thank you for choosing Plaka Hotel and for your feedback. It is true our hotel is in an exceptional location, as not only it is surrounded by most archeological sites but also Monastiraki metro station (2 blocks away) has direct connection to the airport and port. Should you decide to come back to Athens please check on our...

Stayed here for a few nights and the rooms were nice and clean. The breakfast was delicious and they had a huge range of food. The best thing was the location, we were walking distance from most of the attractions and from the tram that took us to the port.

This hotel was in an excellent location- walking distance to the Plaka and to 2 train stations. The view from the roof was absolutely breathtaking. We bought some snacks from the shop a few doors up and sat up there all night on the lounges. The staff were really lovely. The wifi was a bit touch and go and didn't...

Great view of the Acropolis from the rooftop terrace. Reasonable, clean room, good breakfast, good central location and not that expensive. Helpful staff. We stayed for four nights and saw the most important sights of the city. Rooms near the lift could be noisy, the roof terrace lacks shade. Metro just a few hundred meters away so the metro was...

Dear Rosemary S, What a great feeling to be called “an excellent hotel” that met your needs! Thank you. With such comments the only thing we can do is try even harder in order to ensure our guests’ satisfaction. Your comment on the roof terrace shade is already under discussion and most probably when if you come back you will...

We spent two lovely nights here. Our room was on the 5th floor and very comfortable and clean with free wifi. The staff were very attentive and helpful. They offer a nice included breakfast buffet. There are no other dining services, but there are a multitude of cafes and restaurants in close proximity. It is close to the metro station...

We spent 2 nights recently at this small friendly hotel - our room was clean and comfortable and quiet - 10 minutes after arriving we received a welcome tray containing an iced water carafe and small bottle of red wine along with a plate of tiny Greek pastries which was a very nice touch The staff we met were all...

We changed our travel agent booking to the plaka against their advice and we are so pleased we did. Stayed here in the centre of it all with a roof top view of the acropolis at night and it is uncomparable. Our room was small but spotlessly clean and we weren't there to sit anyway. We are in our late...

Room was a nice suite, great for two people, a little tight for three, which the hotel readily accommodated. It was clean, modern and well furnished. Internet access was very good and hotel offered a computer to print out boarding passes. But most important was the roof garden bar. Just sit there every night (or day) and view the Aropolis...

Staying in Plaka

Neighbourhood Profile
Plaka
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
