We stayed at the Plaka Hotel at the end of our Greece trip and it was a pleasant surprise. The rooms are very small but was very comfortable and provided us with everything we needed. The staff was attentive and very friendly. We received a welcome tray with wine, treats and water. They have a rooftop terrace with a bar... More

Even if I had not had a room with such a wonderful view, I would still recommend this hotel. The room was spotlessly clean and comfortable. The breakfast was extensive and the whole place had a good atmosphere. The staff at reception were very helpful and considerate. When I had a problem with the computer, Eva went to the trouble... This hotel is in a great location if you're in Athens for the sights and shopping; easy access to the market at Monastiraki as well as the Parliament and the Acropolis, National Gardens, and Temple of Olympian Zeus. Also a short walk from may great little cafes and tavernas. And, as everyone says, the view from the rooftop bar is... More

We had a wonderful time at the Plaka Hotel in Athens. It is located very close to the Monistiraki Metro, and is also within walking distance of the Acropolis. The rooms were spacious, clean, and quiet. What also made this experience special was the kindness shown to my family from the manager. We unfortunately lost some expensive personal belonging on... I recently stayed at the Plaka hotel during a visit to Athens with my son. The front desk stuff was really helpful and went above and beyond the call of duty. Specially, Eva, the lady at the front desk - she is extremely nice and did everything to help me. The room was clean and well appointed. I had a... More

The staff at this hotel are fantastic. Eva was in the breakfast room every morning to give us suggested personal tour info. The view of the city and Acropolis from the hotel rooftop bar is incredible. The parliament, and Acropolis are in walking distance as are many other attractions.

Staying in Plaka

Neighbourhood Profile
Plaka
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
