The rooms can be quite far from the lifts, but our rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. The concierge was fair, the location fantastic and the view from the restaurant and bar on the roof was incredible! The outdoor pool was lovely as well. Overall, a very nice hotel - can't go wrong here.

My husband and I recently stayed at the Hotel Grande Bretagne and found the hotel was equal to its great reputation. From the grand lobby, to our room overlooking the Acropolis, and dining on the rooftop restaurant: Every aspect of this property was outstanding! The service level was exceptional as the concierge assisted us on many occasions. The room was...

We stayed here on a pre-Christmas break and had a great holiday.....the staff were without exception helpful and made us feel special. The top floor restaurant has some amazing views and wonderful food at both breakfast and dinner with excellent service. We were also lucky enough to stay in a suite with an adjoining room for our teenage children which...

We booked this hotel for my 40th birthday and it was the right choice. We arrived on Easter Friday, a bit disappointed there was no one at the door to help with luggage, but once inside the hotel, the reception team was very welcoming, we were introduced to our personal butler and he took care of it all after that....

We had a junior suite--absolutely lovely room! Courtyard view, not so great, but we were actually only in the room to sleep. Very comfortable furnishings. Service was great! Our friends were in a deluxe room down the hall and we had a view of Parliament and the Independence Day Parade from their room--a wonderful bonus that we all very much...

In my top list of best hotels in the world for the last 10 years. Why: great service, in particular with the superb butler service; fabulous classic room; very warm lobby bar area with pianist on duty certain nights; superb dinner at Roof Garden with a gorgeous view on the Acropolis and finally and very nice spa, all of this...

I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel ... it is exactly what a hotel of this class should be. The staff were incredibly good; very friendly and extremely efficient. They were all a complete credit to Starwood. Our room was large and very comfortable, and had a private butler service (on the 6th 'butler' floor). It had every...

I booked through SPG, their partner hotel site. I was shocked to see a deluxe room with an Acropolis view for a very good rate (but still more than the partner King George next door) so I booked it immediately. I didn't catch it but when the confirmation email arrived it said city view in the small print. When we...

Yes the rooftop restaurant has spectacular views but we go to restaurants to eat and enjoy the experience. In the case of Grande Bretagne there is a total lack of atmosphere, unlike other dining experiences there are no welcoming niceties and at best the food can be described as overpriced and average. If staying at the hotel then enjoy the...

In a truly historical building you will find amazing accommodations and service. The rooftop bar and restaurant are worth a visit even if you are not staying at the hotel. The restaurant offers a great view of the Acropolis, anytime of the day or night. Be sure to check out the historical lobby bar with an amazing, historic tapestry hanging...

Staying in Syntagma

Neighbourhood Profile
Syntagma
Perhaps the best place to get your bearings is Syntagma Square, crowned by the imposing Parliament building on its upper side and surrounded by other large structures, such as the exclusive Hotel Grande Bretagne. The grand avenues that lead towards Omonia are also full of massive Neoclassical edifices like the Numismatic Museum and those around smaller Platia Kolokotroni. Here you will find lots of travel agents, bookshops and fashion shops, especially on Ermou Street. Just south of Syntagma Square, you can take a breather in the lush National Gardens, which extend into the grounds of the Zappeio palace and beyond to the ancient Temple of Olympian Zeus.
