Location is AAA+. You can see the Acropolis from your bed on the Acropolis side of the hotel or the Temple of Zues (maybe 50 metres away) on the other. Very central to Plaka with markets and fine dining and other ancient fantastic attractions. Getting there by bus from the airport is super easy. Rooms are clean and modern. Make...

I'd certainly stay there again. Everyone nice. Rooms in the back, on higher floors have view of Acropolis and no street noise. Very nice breakfast. Fabulous dinners. Best Greek salad I've ever had. Not fancy but has everything we needed (and we are fairly demanding) Can walk to most places or easy access to wonderful subway. Really liked it.

Wonderful location, just aside the Acropolis. Hotel is new and well decorated, which are not easy to find charactheristics in Plaka. Breakfast with Greek yougurt and an unbelievable view to the Parthenon is definetely a plus. I do recommend!

Excellent hotel in the heart of Athens. In 4 days of staying we never needed to use public transport or taxi. The best views in the town - breakfast room is on 9th floor with the view on Acropolis... brilliant. Hotel staff is very friendly and always happy to help. Will strongly recommend.

This hotel was a good quality hotel for the price. The rooms were modern and very clean. The location was also well positioned a the base of the Acropolis. Our rooms had beautiful big balconies facing the Temple of Zues. The only negative, was the dinner menu at the restaurant was very limited & not really Greek Cuisine, that didn't...

I spent 7 nights in this hotel with my parents in late December 2013. The rooms are functional with a balcony and really comfortable (4th floor rather quiet). Breakfast was plenty and the staff was very friendly. The location is the main reason for me to choose this hotel. All touristic sights are within 10-20min walk. I really appreciated that...

Staying in Thissio / Makriyanni

Neighbourhood Profile
Thissio / Makriyanni
Named after the well-preserved Thission (ancient temple of Hephaestus), Thissio is blessed with a small wooded park and some less frenetic streets that offer numerous quieter places to stay and eat. Largely pedestrianised Apostolou Pavlou Street runs between the Acropolis and forested Filopappou Hill, well worth climbing for more great panoramas, until it merges with Dionysiou Areopagitou Street. This leads to the up-and-coming area of Makriyanni, whose centrepiece is the magnificent new Acropolis Museum. Opposite the museum is the entrance to the southern slopes of the Acropolis, while the eponymous metro station nearby is at the top of Makriyanni Street, another strip of touristic cafés and restaurants.
