Stayed at the Philippos Hotel for two nights. Great location to shopping area and to the acropolis. Very comfortable beds and good size room. Balcony room with seating area to enjoy the city. Close to the metro station for easy access to the city.

So many have reviewed the great location, and I can confirm that location is excellent indeed. It is a stone's throw away from the Acropolis Musuem and there is a HOHO stop right next to the hotel, which is very convenient. Metro stop is also a very short walk. But what I would like to highlight is the wonderful wonderful...

From our bed we could watch the Acropolis. At night, it was stunning. The hotel was clean and provided a breakfast buffet which was very good. Staff was extremely helpful and arranged our ride back to the airport. Hotel is situated within walking distance of some very good restaurants. Room was clean and we would not hesitate to retun this...

The Philippos Hotel was nice, very clean and new...I really saw no issues with it, besides the fact that everything is so extremely cramped. The bathrooms are TIGHT, the eating area in the hotel is also really small. Athens is projected to have a population of about 5 million people, and the hotel accommodates 4 floors of guests, but the...

We stayed there on a family vacation in February. Very convenient. Just a minutes walk from the entrance to the Acropolis and less than a block from the Acropolis Museum. Never had to take the Metro at all. Most of the sights were within a 10 or 20 minute walk. The room was small which is usual for the location,...

Hi , I just left from my stay at the Philipos Hotel in Athens . This is my second time there, and as my first time , I leave very well satisfied. I was again fortunate to secure room 602 on the top floor in the corner, which has fantastic views of the Acropolis, and one of my highlights of...

Excellent location, 5 min walk from the Acropolis and conveniently located near sister hotel - with very good restaurant. Quiet street. Breakfast ok, friendly staff. Bathroom small /tight - not much room for your toiletry bag; and not much closet space in the room (we could fit 2 coats in the closet). Helpful room service.

Stayed at the Phillippos Hotel for 2 nights. Our room had a beautiful full view of The Acropolis. The room was clean, a comfortable bed and an enjoyable breakfast. A special thanks to Elias for making us feel so welcome. I would definitely stay there again.

Staying in Thissio / Makriyanni

Neighbourhood Profile
Thissio / Makriyanni
Named after the well-preserved Thission (ancient temple of Hephaestus), Thissio is blessed with a small wooded park and some less frenetic streets that offer numerous quieter places to stay and eat. Largely pedestrianised Apostolou Pavlou Street runs between the Acropolis and forested Filopappou Hill, well worth climbing for more great panoramas, until it merges with Dionysiou Areopagitou Street. This leads to the up-and-coming area of Makriyanni, whose centrepiece is the magnificent new Acropolis Museum. Opposite the museum is the entrance to the southern slopes of the Acropolis, while the eponymous metro station nearby is at the top of Makriyanni Street, another strip of touristic cafés and restaurants.
