We stayed here for our one night in Athens and can't recommend it highly enough. It is a fairly easy walk to all the main attractions - the temple of Zeus, the Olympic stadium, and the Acropolis. The front desk staff were incredibly welcoming and provided us with directions to everywhere we wanted to go and great recommendations for dinner...

We've stayed there only for one night but I'd return to stay longer, the hotel is in a good location right in the center with a walkable distance to everything - Acropolis, roman/ancient agoras, shopping, restaurants, etc. We had a standard room, which is good size based on European standard. The breakfast is really good with a lot of choices...

Amalia hotel is a great 4 start hotel, central to everything. Buses and trains from and to the airport leave you about 30 metres from the hotel (Bus X95, Sintagma train station). and all main turistic attractions are within walking distance if you like walking (we walked it all). American style breakfast buffet is very good and varied, reception staff...

The hotel is located very close to Syntagma Square and its metro station, and there are many shops and restaurants around the place. The rooms were clean, and breakfast was very enjoyable. Overall, we had a pleasant stay at Amalia

We stayed at this hotel for five nights. The breakfast buffet is good. The room are clean and well serviced. The hotel is a good, unpretentious venue located conveniently to the Acropolis and to Palaka. The roof top garden view of the Acropolis is not to be missed. This is a great hotel with a good location and a good...

We stayed at the Amalia for 2 nights recently. The location is superb, only one block from Parliament and within a mile of the Acropolis. Although we did not use the subway, it is my understanding that the Amalia is right on the subway line as well. Staff speaks English and is very helpful. The rooms are comfortable and reasonably...

Nice hotel with excellent service. This hotel was in an excellent location, across the street from the royal gardens. Nearby were restaurants and I was able to walk to great locations including a beautiful water fountain.

Good hotel and breakfast in a fantastic location. The room was good, although a little outdated and with carpet. If you have allergies this might not be the best choice. Also a little noisy from neighbouring rooms/ hallway. However it is close to the main sites and good access from Syntagma square.

Staying in Syntagma

Neighbourhood Profile
Syntagma
Perhaps the best place to get your bearings is Syntagma Square, crowned by the imposing Parliament building on its upper side and surrounded by other large structures, such as the exclusive Hotel Grande Bretagne. The grand avenues that lead towards Omonia are also full of massive Neoclassical edifices like the Numismatic Museum and those around smaller Platia Kolokotroni. Here you will find lots of travel agents, bookshops and fashion shops, especially on Ermou Street. Just south of Syntagma Square, you can take a breather in the lush National Gardens, which extend into the grounds of the Zappeio palace and beyond to the ancient Temple of Olympian Zeus.
