We stayed here early December as a family. There is no parking, but there is a parking lot up the street for 12 euros/day The location is excellent, this is what you are paying for. View from our room we could see the Hellenic parliament. Walking distance to syntagma square, Ermou street, Acropolis, monastiraki and plaka. The room was average,...

We stayed at the Amalia in August we arrived at the airport took the train to syntagma square station and it took a five minuet walk to the hotel. We took the airport bus on returning which is even better because the stop is one minute from the hotel and runs 24 hours for tourists only and is safer. The Amalia is...

Pretty basic hotel but decent breakfast. The reception staff are excellent Couldn't be more helpful. . In fact all of the staff are really nice and helpful. Good restaurant and bar recommendations too The bathrooms were a little strangely arranged and overall it's a little dated Can't fault the location and the price is pretty cheap. I've rated it excellent...

Easily reached via train/ tram or airport bus. Walkable distance to all famous sites. Quiet place, away from bustle of city centre. Approachable, patient, helpful and professional reception staff. Good breakfast but repetative choice/ menu No choice of air con or heating in rooms. Complimenary water bottle and fruits. Rooftop gives a good view - day or night. Restrictive TV...

We stayed here for 3 nights before our cruise . The location of the hotel is one of the best to come from the Airport with the metro or a shuttle bus which is about an hour away and to go on walking tours or if you need transportation in or around Athens . The service was very good ,...

Stayed for 3 nights as a base for sightseeing in Athens. The rooms are clean, the staff are friendly and we would happily stay here again. The location is perfect. We got on the metro at the airport and got off at Syntagma Square and only had to walk 150 yards to get here. We bought a hop on hop...

Difficult to find a better location for visiting Athens. Right next to Syntagma Square, it's tube station, Parliament building, National Park, Plaka and all main tourist sites within easy walking distance. Good breakfast. Only slight downside was that it is slightly noisy with traffic and was on 2nd floor in side street.

I found that the Amalia Hotel was a good average hotel. Staff was friendly ish. They didn't want to recommend restaurants because they didn't want to take money from themselves (this is what one front desk woman told us). The bartender when busy was frazzled. I asked if a particular food on the menu was good and he berated me...

I have previously written enthusiastic reviews of the service and value for money in this hotel. But my last visit in a standard room was very disappointing. For the price I paid I expected more. The room had faded curtains and was in a clear need of an upgrade. The people in the reception were not very friendly either. The...

Staying in Syntagma

Neighbourhood Profile
Syntagma
Perhaps the best place to get your bearings is Syntagma Square, crowned by the imposing Parliament building on its upper side and surrounded by other large structures, such as the exclusive Hotel Grande Bretagne. The grand avenues that lead towards Omonia are also full of massive Neoclassical edifices like the Numismatic Museum and those around smaller Platia Kolokotroni. Here you will find lots of travel agents, bookshops and fashion shops, especially on Ermou Street. Just south of Syntagma Square, you can take a breather in the lush National Gardens, which extend into the grounds of the Zappeio palace and beyond to the ancient Temple of Olympian Zeus.
