Location is ideal literally next to the main square and within walking distance of all that has to be seen in Athens and the main shopping area and excellent restaurants (Metro station less than 5 minutes away). The rooms are modern and although are nothing special, they are large, clean and well serviced. All have balconies for those who smoke,...

We were upgraded to a Deluxe room with views of the Parliament and National Gardens. Walking distance to all city centre attractions. Bus stop to airport around the corner. Service-oriented, correct and friendly staff. Breakfast buffet very complete. Great value for the price.

I really liked my stay at the hotel. The bed was very good and comfortable, we had all we needed and the staff is very good and helpful. What I liked is that they also have a place to access computer and print any documents necessary. The only things I didn't like were the wi-fi, which didn't work very well...

Had a fabulous stay at the Amalia. The 9.6 for location is very well deserved. On the doorstep for everything. The staff are extremely helpful and nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are spacious and we had a great view of the National Gardens from our balcony. The view from the roof of the Acropolis is a sight to...

Clean, comfortable hotel with helpful, friendly staff. The breakfast buffet has everything you could imagine for breakfast and is regularly refreshed. Initially I was disappointed that my room didn't have a view, although I could see the sky to see what the weather was doing. However, it did mean it was very quiet with no traffic noise. The carpets in...

We were in Athens during a very warm February weekend. In the hotel it was extremely warm. The hotel itself is worn, everything is at it's end of life. That's the whining part, the service is great and staff friendly and the price for it's central location is good. So we had a great stay in Athens.

Situated right smack in the center, you will be able to walk everywhere. I like it because they have bath tubs, not just showers, a great breakfast and excellent service. The metro is across the street and so is the National Garden. Very well-run with friendly, helpful, professional staff.

This must be one of the best value for money hotels in Athens. The rooms are very nice and clean. The breakfast is excellent with amazing variety. Personnel is helpful and very polite. The best thing is the location. In the city centre and close to everything on foot. Just meters of the Syntagma Square.

Staying in Syntagma

Neighbourhood Profile
Syntagma
Perhaps the best place to get your bearings is Syntagma Square, crowned by the imposing Parliament building on its upper side and surrounded by other large structures, such as the exclusive Hotel Grande Bretagne. The grand avenues that lead towards Omonia are also full of massive Neoclassical edifices like the Numismatic Museum and those around smaller Platia Kolokotroni. Here you will find lots of travel agents, bookshops and fashion shops, especially on Ermou Street. Just south of Syntagma Square, you can take a breather in the lush National Gardens, which extend into the grounds of the Zappeio palace and beyond to the ancient Temple of Olympian Zeus.
