Wifi is awful - the connection is terrible, and you get disconnected all the time, no matter if in the room, or dining area, etc. They have desktop computer, however its super slow (even for just doing your checkin via website). The location is great, it's right in the city centre, and it's relatively cheap. The room itself is average,...

Had a room on the roof floor, with the beautiful view of the Acropolis. Room is clean and tidy! The staff is very friendly and helpful. Good price in the middle of the centre, everywhere is easy to walk to. The metrostation from/to the airport(M3) is 3 minutes walking. The train will take you 40minutes. Will come again next time....

This hotel is in a good location, walking distance to all major attractions and public transport. Rooms are normal, nothing bad or special. I had clean sheets and towels. There's a small tv in the room. Heating and cooling also worked properly. They really need to change shower curtains, they're too short. Water goes everywhere when you're having a shower....

Great location, easy to get there (Monastiraki metro station is 2 minutes away on foot), roof terrace with an ok view of the Acropolis, and the market hall nearby. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Skip the breakfast, it was inedible. The room was somehow basic, but it did the job for three days.

This was a second stay in the Cecil. We chose it because of the location, it is in a very central position for all the main attractions. However since our last stay three years ago it has become quite shabby. There were odd curtains in the room. This was also the case in the dining room so perhaps it is...

I stayed here for three nights in the end of October with my three children. We got a family room which actually was two connecting rooms sharing one bathroom. The rooms were small but clean. Nice beds but a terrible view. We were told there was free wifi, but it only worked in the restaurant on first floor. The breakfast...

Old building and facilities but very close to the metro station, easy access to the airport and walking distance from major tourist attraction in Athens. The large room was clean as desirable, furniture and toilet would benefit from some renewal, but well preserved. Breakfast with enough variety. Wifi a bit slow.

Great location, close to the Metro station and in the heart of Monasteraki. Breakfast was good and wifi worked ok. Stellions and Dimitri, who worked the front desk were very helpful. The room was a good size and very clean. I would be happy to stay there again.

This hotel has an excellent location situated about five minutes from Monastaraki Square and metro station. 24 he reception and very helpful staff. The rooms are not huge but are clean and comfortable. Breakfast while not greatly varied is quite good and is served till 10.30. We had splendid time at Cecil Hotel! It's needless to say that Athens is one of the most beautiful and interesting cities in Europe, but staying at this lovely little hotel really complemented our wonderful vacation. Sure, it is not a fancy hotel and the rooms and the bathrooms are pretty small, but it has a really charming interior. The...

Staying in Psirri / Gazi

Neighbourhood Profile
Psirri / Gazi
Side-by-side neighbourhoods Psirri and Gazi provide some of the city’s prime nightlife. The almost claustrophobic streets of Psirri feature an interesting blend of original small businesses with the restaurants, cafés and bars that have recently sprouted up. The central artery of Agion Anargiron Street has lively places to eat or drink. Further west, you can visit the peaceful ancient cemetery of Keramikos, then cross busy Pireos Street to find yourself in Gazi. With the huge Technopolis performance and art complex converted from old gasworks at its heart, you really have to come at night to appreciate this maze of bars at its best, although a daytime stroll will allow you to admire the excellent street art.
