Located in Plaka so really handy to get to all the sites on foot. The room was quite clean and OK. A bit pricy for what you get. Breakfast is not really worth it. The terrace upstairs has so much potential.... but it's just been left unattended. I'm pretty sure that for the price they are better places in the...

Best location, near airport bus and the Plaka. Breakfast great, room great, front desk staff great. Very accommodating. Rooftop patio very nice though unused. Right next to Syntagma Square. Stay here!

The biggest selling point of the hotel is location. I was able to visit all notable landmarks in Athens on foot. We never used the metro once, and buses and cabs were used only for going to port or airport. It's smack in the centre of town while not being on the busiest street. The staff were very helpful and...

This hitel is by no means a 5 star hotel. It is however clean & comfortable, friendly English-speaking reception staff &friendly housekeeping staff. The breakfast is a buffet-type full breakfast. Very conveniently situated close to the bus station & metroline near Syntagma Square, on the doorstep of the shopping area of Ermou Street, which is the High Street, & close...

We stayed here for three nights, our room was on the fourth floor overlooking the Mitropoleous Street. It was a good size, clean, air conditioning worked well as did the free WIFI, bathroom was lovely too. Coming back to our hotel one day, the door to another room was open which looked very old & dated so definitely worth getting...

Hotel is located a short walk from Syntagma Square, very easy to locate. Very central base for sightseeing. Our room was spacious and clean with a window overlooking a quiet street. Receptionist was helpful with maps and tips.

The Arethusa is wonderfully located near Syntagna Square. It is also exceptionally cheap. However, the rooms are not too comfortable. Furniture is old and sparse and the bathroom had a glass door which didn't close too well. More importantly some of the staff was impatient and not accommodating which cast a pall over the experience.

The location is at the perfect spot of Athens (near Plaka, near Thiseio, next to Ermou & Monastiraki). The walking distance from Psirri, Gazi and Kolonaki are only a few minutes. Front of the hotel there are a lot of taxis to catch a ride in case you need them. On the road of the hotel (Mitropoleos street) there are...

Staying in Syntagma

Neighbourhood Profile
Syntagma
Perhaps the best place to get your bearings is Syntagma Square, crowned by the imposing Parliament building on its upper side and surrounded by other large structures, such as the exclusive Hotel Grande Bretagne. The grand avenues that lead towards Omonia are also full of massive Neoclassical edifices like the Numismatic Museum and those around smaller Platia Kolokotroni. Here you will find lots of travel agents, bookshops and fashion shops, especially on Ermou Street. Just south of Syntagma Square, you can take a breather in the lush National Gardens, which extend into the grounds of the Zappeio palace and beyond to the ancient Temple of Olympian Zeus.
