It is an ok hotel. I like my room 611. Have very good view to Acropoli. But my friends room (412, 413) was ok with no good view and their toilet did not work. The location of the hotel is convenient to Open Bus Tours. You can walk from hotel to the bus stop. Red bus tours will take you...

Hotel Astor is a great little accommodating hotel in a perfect location. Value for money definitely. The rooms are fairly basic but clean and comfortable. Our room looked directly towards the Acropolis which gave us a thrill every time we looked out. The view from the breakfast room and outdoor terrace is also stunning. I have stayed at the Astor...

I have spent 2 nights at Astor hotel. Great location, very close to Syntagma metro station. Be more concrete. It is only 5 min. to walk from the station to the hotel. Hotel as such is clean, rational. A superb view from the restaurant on the top of the building. Directly on Acropola, which is ca. 25 minutes walking from...

I guess my expectations must be to high for a 4 star hotel. I should have expected it with the price I paid. Which for this hotel is reasonable. Just checked in so I do not know what the breakfast is like yet but the room are very dated. Have never liked 2 twin beds being pushed together for a...

This is a very pleasant city centre hotel. We stayed for two nights, the hotel was recommended by a travel agent and didn't disappoint. Good location for the city with bus stops 50 meters away in the main square and lots of good restaurants well within walking distance. We had a read about the view from the restaurant and were...

I was actually at a hotel the next street over when I came across this hotel while shopping. As my flight had been cancelled I managed to get a room, booking as I was in the taxi driving towards the city centre. It is a huge hotel. Foyer is large and inviting with lots of sofas to sit and use...

The location cannot be better. It is walking distance to the acropolis, shopping, ancient agora and the Praka. The rooms are OK and clean. Breakfast substantial. If we ever come to. Athens again this will be our choice

Staying at the Astor Hotel I was struck with the impression that this had probably been a very good hotel in the 1970s but was presently struggling to remain '4 star'. The room I stayed in was large and tidy, but could have done with some refurbishment. Some cases in point would be the perfectly made bed with a large,...

Staying in Syntagma

Neighbourhood Profile
Syntagma
Perhaps the best place to get your bearings is Syntagma Square, crowned by the imposing Parliament building on its upper side and surrounded by other large structures, such as the exclusive Hotel Grande Bretagne. The grand avenues that lead towards Omonia are also full of massive Neoclassical edifices like the Numismatic Museum and those around smaller Platia Kolokotroni. Here you will find lots of travel agents, bookshops and fashion shops, especially on Ermou Street. Just south of Syntagma Square, you can take a breather in the lush National Gardens, which extend into the grounds of the Zappeio palace and beyond to the ancient Temple of Olympian Zeus.
