This hotel is well located for central Athens. We paid extra for an 'upgraded' room. It was a basic no frills room. Beds were comfy, the room pretty tiny. It was rather noisy and I made good use of my earplugs. We had a balcony but it looked onto a building site. The staff were helpful and kind.

The hotel is rather cheap and it is its main advantage as it its location give you a perfect possibility to reach everything in a few minutes on foot. Still, as the area has diverse night life (bars, clubs, restorants...) you can just a little be annoyed by the music. Still, if you yourself love music it a great place...

It was quite efficient in responses to needs prior to arrival, but ... the upgrade to the re-furbished (quieter) 4th floor was somewhat over-priced: though it had a small balcony and a bit of a view. The twin-bedded, no-smoking room was - just as advertised - but just that - designed for smaller than average folk, and thus just a...

I booked through hotels dot com. I managed to get an upgrade of the room for free. The room was very simple but functional, not too small, extremely clean. Very nice staff at the reception. The only problem was the noise from the street: due to the central position, in a nice neighbourhood full of clubs, at night it gets...

This is a small and unpretentious hotel that has a fantastic location right in the middle of everything! Rooms are small, neat, clean, air-conditioned and quiet. There is a lift that could be in a museum but works very well. Our room on the top floor had a balcony with a view to the Acropolis. Eating, drinking and shopping choices...

We decided to spend an extra week on our own in Athens (following a 2 week group tour to the islands), and we were delighted to find the Carolina. We remembered the hotel from our "Europe on $5 a Day" tour nearly 50 years ago. It's been well-maintained and is still a clean, comfortable, welcoming place. The breakfast is complete...

Small place. Fine if you dont mind LOUD music until after 2 in the morning or if your also out that late. Nice room and staff but theres a cafe/bar next to the hotel that didnt let us sleep. Great location and walkable to multiple train stations, flea markets, acropolis, agora, parliament, and almost anything, but tradeoff is the noise...

We're happy that you enjoyed your stay. Unfortunately it's central Athens, it's full of life and when there's fun there's always noise. We hope to see you again. Best Regards.

An excellent hotel conveniently placed for good shopping, places to eat and major archaeological sites. It's also a few minutes walk from Monastiraki Station with its direct links to Piraeus and the airport. The Hotel is smart, clean and nicely furnished. There is a lovely old lift too. The air conditioning works efficiently. The Wi-Fi worked well too, something which...

It is an avarage hotel, breakfast is for extra charge.. Lots of caffeterias, restaurants and small shops around. Good location for visiting the all the landmarks around, walking distance to Acropoli. But some rooms are very small and there is nothing special about this hotel.

Staying in Plaka

Neighbourhood Profile
Plaka
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
