top floor rooms are not worth the 43 euros a night charged for a single. other hotels in the area have similar HOSTEL rooms (yes, these ARE tiny private hostel rooms) for 25 euros a night and offer a huge breakfast, which the tempi doesn't. oh, they have a kitchen. but it's on the 1st floor, so if you're on...

This place was very good. In a good location in Athens, easy to walk anywhere. The rooms were nice and clean, and small, but we;re only there to sleep. It was a bit of a walk up to our 4th floor room, but that's the nature of the buildings. I would definitely recommend anyone to stay here, unless you have...

The location of this hotel is perfect. It is in walking distance to the Acropolis, places to eat, shopping, etc. It is also pretty close to the train station so you don't have to carry your luggage too far. I had compared prices of other hotels close to the Acropolis and they were more expensive. The room was very small...

My daughter and I stayed at the Tempi for 7 nights and had a very good experience. Mr. Kanakis, the manager, is friendly and helpful, as is the other reception staff. The rooms are small but air conditioned and very clean. We prepared a simple breakfast every day in the common kitchen. (There is no microwave or stovetop - you...

paid 45 EUR for a double room with bath and balcony- which had a view of the Acropolis. I thought this was a good deal and cheaper than everything else we tried. The location is good, central but not too touristy, walking distance from may great restaurants and bars in the Psirri area

My teen daughter and i spent a week at the Tempi hotel and we loved it. The location is central enough that we could pop in and out as we needed--sometimes just for an hour or two if she needed a break. We booked one of the balcony rooms, which are worth it! I liked being able to make my...

We stayed at the Tempi on the middle of September for 3 nights. We had a really good time there. The hotel was very clean and the staff really friendly. They helped with directions and information on sightseeing, nice restaurant locations and transport. Getting there from the airport was very easy by direct metro line to monastiraki station (The hotel...

Tempi Hotel is located in the best part of Athens. The street it's on, Aiolou( Eolou )Street, is a pedestrian street only and is filled with local and tourist shops and restaurants. There is absolutely NO fluff allowed at this hotel. This hotel is a glorified hostel. We got room number 6 and had a balcony with a view of...

We spent 3 nights at the Tempi at the end of September 2007 in a double room with shared facilities on the 3rd floor. Very basic accomodation and a bit worn in places but what do you expect for 54 Euro (£39) a night in a capital city centre hotel? Booked direct via email and room allocated was as confirmed...

We struggled to find the hotel after coming from Monastiriki metro station - the hotel's web information is not good - much better to use the Lonely Planet map. However, once you have settled in, the pleasures of Athens easily unfold. The hotel room was simple, small, clean and really quiet. My partner and I slept very well here. All...

Staying in Monastiraki

Neighbourhood Profile
Monastiraki is a souvenir-hunting enclave with a difference. Apart from the dramatic backdrop of the Acropolis, its network of alleys and pedestrianized streets surround the remains of both the Greek and Roman agoras, adding the quaint concept that this is where the ancients also came to shop. Named after the tiny monastery church at its center, Monastiraki Square is a lively spot by day or night, with street peddlers vying for your attention to sell you nuts and sweets. Down beside the metro station, the official Flea Market is an unbroken row of souvenir shops until you come to antique-oriented Platia Avissinias, while Pandrossou Street on the other side of the square offers more tourist shopping. The pedestrianized street beside the Greek Agora is lined with cafés offering fine views.
