The hotel is fine - very plain. When planning my trip to Athens with my wife I took a bunch of recommendations from my Athenian friend (many in the top 10 on Tripadvisor), but opted for this hotel instead. I forfeited a swimming pool too (big big mistake in the Summer). I found the website glamorised the hotel a little... More

The Ava hotel is well situated for much of what Athens has to offer. The staff were extremely helpful and attentive. Our room was spacious,Immaculate and the small kitchen was a real bonus. Worthy of its high rating in you reviews.

I stayed here for 10 nights in November, 2011. For the first 6 nights, I paid about $212 per night including taxes and breakfast, and for the last 4 nights I moved to a bigger room and paid about $316. Overall, I was quite satisfied with this hotel and generally agree with the other travelers' reviews. For one thing, it's... More

We have to agree with other reviewers that this hotel was one of the best parts of our trip to Greece. The location couldn't have been better- it was a short walk to the Acropolis, Ancient Agora and the Acropolis Museum. The staff was extremely helpful providing us with maps and directions. We were treated to an upgraded room and... More

Writing this from the living room of our sumptuous suite at the AVA. This place is second to none. Service is fantastic, breakfast is great and the plaka is literally outside your doorstep. They really treat you as royalty here and they haven't forgotten the little things that turn a hotel into a home away from home. Running the Athens... More

We stayed here for 3 nights and had a lovely time. The rooms was large, comfy beds and nice bedding. It's a great location - very central in the heart of Plaka. The staff were very helpful - nothing was too much trouble. Would really recommend this hotel and would stay there again if I returned to Athens.

We were extremely pleased with AVA. It is located within walking distance of the Acropolis. Go out the front door of AVA and look to your right and you will see the Parthenon. Check out this web cam view from the street http://www.hellenic-foundation.gr/camacropolis.asp. Look for the flags in the lower right and that is AVA. If you look to the... More

We selected the AVA - Athens Hotel based on reviews on Trip Advisor, and the comments from other guests all were accurate. We arrived after an overnight trip from New York and when we got to the hotel in the late morning our room, a deluxe suite, was not ready, but the desk clerk made certain we were comfortable and... Staying in Plaka

Neighbourhood Profile
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
