It was our first trip to Athens, we decided on AVA after reviewing TA recommendation. What we do not like about the hotel is that the bathroom is abit small. What we like about the hotel: 1) The room is spacious and with a small kitchen (for heating your meal...not for cooking). 2) Location: it is walking distance to Acropolis,...

Everything was perfect during our stay at Ava hotel: -booking went smoothly and we got exactly what we expected and asked for: I asked for a quiet room and this was pure silence so thanks for that -we got welcome wine and chocolates, very nice gesture! -the room was provided with Free wifi (great) and touristic guides and mythology guides...

Before we arrived, we wondered if the #1 rating on Trip Advisor was really accurate and worried that we might be missing something. But I can honestly say this was one of the best hotels at which I have stayed--and I travel regularly for work. The room was lovely and the hotel ideally located for us, the amenities were perfect...

Stop looking and book this hotel, you will not be disappointed. It is an ideal location, very good service, quiet and very clean. My wife is insanely picky with accomodations and she loved this hotel. The complimentary bottle of champagne is a nice touch.

I reserved at this hotel because of its rating on Tripadvisor. I was in Athens for only two nights before a cruise, and the hotel was perfectly located for my plan to see the new Acropolis Museum and the Old Agora. I was frankly a little surprised when I got to the hotel because on Tripadvisor it looks much nicer,...

We needed a hotel in Athens, a city we'd been to before but were visiting again. Tripadvisor recommended this hotel and we were not disappointed. The location is ideal (unless you're one of those people who have to drive everywhere). The Acropolis museum is a couple of minutes' walk away, and you're in the the heart of the Plaka area...

I enjoyed a wonderful stay at the AVA for 6 nights in early October. The location was ideal for someone like me who had never traveled to Athens before. The Acropolis and numerous other historical sites were within easy walking distance as was the Plaka with all its restaurants and shops. The hotel was very clean and the room was...

The hotel is fine - very plain. When planning my trip to Athens with my wife I took a bunch of recommendations from my Athenian friend (many in the top 10 on Tripadvisor), but opted for this hotel instead. I forfeited a swimming pool too (big big mistake in the Summer). I found the website glamorised the hotel a little...

The Ava hotel is well situated for much of what Athens has to offer. The staff were extremely helpful and attentive. Our room was spacious,Immaculate and the small kitchen was a real bonus. Worthy of its high rating in you reviews.

Staying in Plaka

Neighbourhood Profile
Plaka
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
