Stayed in the Hotel Metropolis for 3 nights mid December. This is a 2 star accommodation in the middle of Athens. I must admit when my husband booked a hotel with only 2 starts I was more than a little nervous. The rooms were incredibly clean and well decorated and as part of the package we even received slippers (it's... More

Very well located, walking distance to all the main sights of Athens. The staff was very helpful and kind too. Excelent value for money. Airport is easily reachable by public transport. Downsides: Really really small rooms and elevator. The shower curtain actually ended right on top of the toilet, making it a little uncomfortable to take showers.

We arrived in Athens at Syntagma station using the Metro from the airport. We walked the couple of blocks wheeling our luggage down the street to the hotel. When we arrived at the hotel we were greeted by two men at the front desk, one had a bit of a sarcastic attitude while the other was very helpful. We were... More

My husband and I spent 4 days at hotel Metropolis in the middle of September, on our way to Hydra, and we could not have chosen a better place to stay for our days in Athens! The hotel is very well located in a pleasant street between Plaka and the Syntagma square, and with easy walking distance to Acropolis, the... More

The front desk staff were extremely personable and helpful. They always had a smile and gave us some great tips. The rooftop view of the Acropolis is amazing and wonderful to view while having breakfast. The room was small, but had all the modern amenities. The location is right in the heart of The Plaka so noise from restaurants outside... More

The location, the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff, the view from the roof at breakfast, all of these made the Metropolis a very good choice for a quick overnight before heading to the airport the next day. We were given a tiny room, and they did say the next morning that room would be better for some young student... More

The hotel Metropolis Hotel was a basic hotel in the centre of Athens, nothing remarkable about this place. The rooms were clean if not basic. Everything worked well in the room include shower and toilet facilities. Wi-fi was strong in the room and we got a very good signal... On the negative side our room was noisy, next to the... More

Right in the center of it all. Excellent location. Room was clean and the porch had an amazing view. The front desk people were super helpful and guided us to everything we needed. For as many people as there were staying we heard veryblittle and slept very well. Highly recommended!

Staying in Syntagma

Neighbourhood Profile
Syntagma
Perhaps the best place to get your bearings is Syntagma Square, crowned by the imposing Parliament building on its upper side and surrounded by other large structures, such as the exclusive Hotel Grande Bretagne. The grand avenues that lead towards Omonia are also full of massive Neoclassical edifices like the Numismatic Museum and those around smaller Platia Kolokotroni. Here you will find lots of travel agents, bookshops and fashion shops, especially on Ermou Street. Just south of Syntagma Square, you can take a breather in the lush National Gardens, which extend into the grounds of the Zappeio palace and beyond to the ancient Temple of Olympian Zeus.
