We booked a junior sea view lower deck suite for 5 days to celebrate my husband’s 50th birthday. It was dated, dull, dreary and dark. Nothing about it was acceptable. We asked for a room change and the male receptionist who dealt with us behaved in a sexist and unpleasant way when I spoke to him. Extremely disappointing. We were eventually moved to a more modern room. Do not book the junior suites - be warned!

Dear kerry949, thank you for taking the valuable time to provide your honest and transparent feedback of Minos Palace hotel and suites. It is with regret and concern to read that your stay with us was not an enjoyable one as the vast majority of our guests enjoy. The team and I sincerely share your frustration and allow me to apologize for all the aforementioned shortfalls. The biggest though apology is since I was not present to resolve the concern and interact with you on the spot. A practice not adapted in general as I personally tend to address each guest’s concern while on the hotel. Again, we sincerely apologize for not meeting your expectations and leaving with such a feeling of disappointment from Minos Palace hotel and suites. We do appreciate that you have taken your time to share with us your experiences during your stay that will allow us to have a greater understanding and a better ability to focus on immediate improvement in all the areas of concern that you have kindly pointed out. However, we are hoping that you would prefer to stay with us again and will give us a chance to prove to you that our service is far much better than what you have experienced on your last stay as we do continuously strive to improve on our F&B offerings, Experiences and Services. We would be very much delighted if you will give us another privilege to welcome you back to our hotel. Yours sincerely Moudatsos Georgios Operations Manager, Minos Palace hotel and suites

Hotel's Favourite
Our stay was absolutely perfect from beginning to end and could not be faulted in any way. Everyone was so friendly, helpful and welcoming and looked after us so well with amazing food and service. We really appreciated all the hard work and effort of everyone at the hotel that made our stay such a pleasure. Views from every part of the hotel are stunning with either sea or mountains or both including from the large infinity pool. Food for breakfast was fresh and delicious with something to meet every taste and could be taken on the terrace with more of those stunning views. We ate at the Intublue restaurant, which is part of the hotel, down by the private beachon 3 nights. The location is amazing right on the waters edge. The food , cocktails and the service really were first class and we were made to feel very special every night we ate there. One of the nicest places we have ever eaten. We stayed in an upper deck infinity blue room. It was spacious, comfortable and quiet with an amazing sea view from the large balcony. Roof fan was great for keeping the room cool if you didnt want the air conditioning on. The private sandy beach is small but gets the sun all day and is perfect for swimming from, there are 2 showers and small changing room which were really nice touches. Gym was well equipped and easy to get access to even though you had to book. Hotel is about 30 minute walk from town but lots of tavernas, restaurants and supermarkets within 10 minutes. We are already planning next years trip!

This hotel is really great. I had attended for a yoga retreat and the staff was SUPER friendly, accommodating and cheerful. The room was comfortable- excellent view with a balcony that faced the sea and the bed was SO comfortable! Things to know: Adults only- massively relaxing. Most things are done via their app, which is great. Check in, room service, ordering food by the pool or the beach. I think there’s only one elevator- if you have trouble walking or bad knees you may want to ask to stay on the main level. The beach is amazing and you can almost always get a seat. The pool is great too, but surprisingly cold! Probably very nice in the summer heat, but at the end of September a little bracing. Most food is buffet style which might turn off some people looking for a fine dining experience, but it was plentiful and tasty and the staff is friendly and accommodating. I booked a spa treatment- excellent therapists, very nice quarters and you never feel exposed. This was my first pandemic travel and I felt surprisingly safe- most things are outdoors and masks are required indoors, and there are sanitizing stations and gloves for the buffet. All in all it was an excellent place to relax and recharge, enjoying beautiful sea views.

The good things about the hotel are the friendly staff, the views, secluded private beach, and the good - reasonably priced - food. Unfortunately there are a few things which are a problem. The room we had was too small and the bed and the decoration were dated (which is an issue given its just been redecorated, or so we were told). The hotel is decorated with a mixture of local photos and Thai inspired features. Unfortunately its doesn't work, the grey and black furniture is not chic, its drab. The photos are black and white and a bit ugly. The Thai inspiration is a mistake because what tourists want is Crete, not Thailand. The main infinity pool is far, far too cold in October. Also the hotel has not made any effort to create an area where guests can mix. Yes you can sit outside but not in a way you can interact meaningfully (this may be a temporary covid issue, but Im unsure about that). The music is a bit of a mix but a good solid pianist might have been more appropriate. It would have been nice if the hotel has put on some events such as Greek dancing or someone telling mythical stories. Its unclear to me if the Greeks are aware of the resurgent interest in myths by intellectuals like Jordan Peterson. I got the impression they think its only for kids. The hotel is a bit of a walk from local shops and the town so you have to be prepared to walk or use taxis all the time.

Taking the unusual step of writing a review while still here. We love travelling but not been for nearly 2 years because of the pandemic. Wanted a quality hotel and warm sunshine. Well, this hotel has everything. After a bit of a messy check-in process (log in via app) then the experience is sublime. We booked a suite with a shared pool and Ocean view and it's idyllic. Weather brilliant, pool lovely ( if a bit cold), great selection at breakfast and close to some fabulous local restaurants. Everyone so friendly. Haven't gone home yet but already want to come back! 🤔 Well done Minos Palace.
