The hotel is in a perfect place inside the old city, only 20 meters from the old port. You can go everywhere by foot. The room #1 is perfect with good and clean bathroom and generally is very big with tall walls. That's it with the good part. Now the big problem is that the walls are made, probably by... More

We decided to take a trip to Chania and looking for hotels we found this one. Its a good hotel which makes you feel cozy.the room was clean and nice.nothing special.its good for 1 or 2 nights. The stuff is welcoming and helpful. What dissapointed me is that they sold us a seaview room for 58 euros but what i found... More

We unfortunately had the top floor. A problem for us. The rooms are well sized but with very dark somber furniture. Lovely sea view.Bathroom ok. Breakfast was a bit scant but enough for us and it was out of season. Very quiet area at this time of year. Lovely friendly receptionist.

Stayed twice within a month at this hotel. Very clean, excellent location and very helpful staff. The hotel does look like funky and a stage for a thriller movie, but its very interesting. The breakfast is not that bad too. The building is a heritage building, so yes there is no elevator. But climbing stairs are good for your health... More

Beautiful area. Strongly recommend it if you want to relax. Spectacular beaches within an hour's drive. That's not relaxation you may add, but trust me it's worth it. The hotel is pretty. Excellent location. Breakfast is good and the staff very friendly. I'm not a fussy chap but maybe a quick wipe of the duster would be an idea in... More

Friendly and helpful staff; clean, comfortable, air-conditioned rooms; an excellent and varied buffet breakfast; and an ideal location in the heart of the old city. The only drawback for older or unfit travellers was that rooms are over three floors and there is no lift but, that aside, this is an excellent base for visiting Chania and great value for... More

Many reviews complain about the number of steps or the lack of car parking. What do you expect from a 13th century building in the middle of the old Venetian paved part of the town? You can park about 750 yards away and a lift would destroy much of the fabric, so if you need one then go to some... More

We spent 4 nights here in September. They organised a pick up from the airport which went very well. The driver had to drop us off outside the old town and give us instructions how to find it but this was no hassle either. The welcome was very friendly (a glass of Raki) and registration easy. We had a room... More

The hotels around the old city of Chania are located in a maze of narrow alleyways and cobbled streets that are confusing and crowded during business hours. Street names are hard to spot against the background of shop signage and after wandering around in circles for 10 minutes we were given directions to the Porto Colombo by the concierge of... More

A very character filled hotel with exceptionally friendly and helpful staff, especially Athina who had us in fits of laughter, breakfast very substantial and served until late, much appreciated. Bathroom small but adequate although another hook for towels would be helpful. A great location very close to everything and down a quiet laneway away from hustle and bustle of main... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Our Hotel, an imposing, tall, 600 year old building, has gathered a rich history over the passing of the centuries. During the days of Turkish Rule, the building housed members of high ranking Turkish military who made many changes to the buildings architecture - even built a Hamam. In the garden and next to that, a room to secure their slaves (where you can still see the metallic rings nailed to the walls). In the beginning of the 19th Century, the building was used as a French embassy and later was inhabited by the great Greek political figure, Eleftherios Venizelos, who also used it as his political offices until his move to Athens, when he took power as Prime Minister of Greece. The Hotel has 10 beautiful rooms - the 2 of which are maisonettes - fully restored and traditionally decorated to provide our guests with an especially warm and welcome feeling. All rooms have modern conveniences (WC, telephone, TV, mini-bar, air-conditioning and Central Heating in winter) ensuring our guests have a comfortable and enjoyable stay. ... more   less
