Avoid. Avoid. Avoid at all costs. Outdated. Not as the photos show whatsoever. The carpets are stained everywhere and the place reeks of cigarettes. The room door did not lock properly and the bathroom had black mold growing everywhere. Upon check-in, I noticed that the lobby was outdated and a bit dirty, but decided to go up to see the room and give it a chance. The room was abysmal. Bathroom and whole room smelled like mold and had visible mold growing on the bathtub. I am guessing that the hotel has some plumbing issues given that it reeked of raw sewage. Floor was covered in hair, clearly not cleaned from the last guest. The door would not properly close all the way, which was a big safety concern as a woman traveling alone. The air conditioning would not turn on in the room. The bed had a decorative drape across it with what (I hope) were coffee stains. Overall, the room felt filthy, but most important, it smelled just awful. Just reiterating, please do NOT trust the photos. This hotel looks nothing like the photos here on Travel Advisor. I am guessing that the hotel has somehow paid or arranged for their ratings here...I advised the manager of my concerns and he tried to pressure me into staying, offering me everything under the sun after I described all the safety issues and cleanliness issues. The entire hotel is outdated and has carpets covered in discolored, nasty stains. No room upgrade in the world could make this place somewhere I would stay. Needless to say, I promptly packed my things and moved to a decent hotel down the street (for the same price).

Hotel's Favourite
We arrived at the hotel, on a busy Saturday afternoon, when all the square is filled with young local people going out. The streets where crowded with people and vehicles since the hotel is located right in the city centre. However as soon as we passed the hotel doors, our experience was completely stress free, since our car was picked up by the hotel staff, and everyone in the hotel strived to make our stay ever more pleasant and comfortable. Being a family with small children, they helped us prepare our childerns milk and they provided us with extra bottles of water, free of charge. We stayed at the junior suite, a very well designed and spacious suite, with custom made modern furniture and a comfortable bed. There was plenty of space to enjoy our take out food there, and we also had a pleasant sea view at the north, along with the view of all the departing planes from the airport which enthused our kids. Having such a wonderful time we decided to stay for another day, and after seeing the Museum which is right across the street from the hotel, we enjoyed the pool at the teracce, which is an oasis right in the middle of the city. We left with the most pleasant memories, having been treated like royalty, from a professional and kind hotel staff. We will certainly revisit this hotel when we can!

Stayed here early October 2022. This is an excellent budget hotel with a perfect location. Literally steps away from -- Heraklion Archeological Museum -- Pedestrian mall district with tons of dining, bars, shopping -- Walking park -- Bus stops to everywhere - Knossos, airport Capsis has a lovely rooftop pool area with great views and a bar with dinner menu. The rooms are efficient, clean and adequate (reminded me of my small, efficient cruise ship cabins). The breakfast is good (a minor step above your typical Hampton Inn style breakfast). The staff (ok, almost all of them) are very friendly and helpful. It didn't seem that daily housekeeping was automatic. Minus 1 star for the old, stained, musty/smoky carpet in the hall to my room. The rooms themselves did not smell of smoke, but once in the hall...bam! That carpet should just be removed. There's a small balcony overlooking the city/neighbors. Keep in mind this is a CITY, so expect night noise. There was a loud music beat each night but seemed to end at a decent hour (and, of course, motorcycle noises). Again, the location and price are perfect - I would stay here again!

Stayed for 3 nights. Great location in the centre of Heraklion. Quick and easy on the bus from the airport. Check in was pleasant and quick. The room was clean and well maintained but the public corridors need some work on the stained carpets and ceiling tiles. We used the pool on a couple of occasions which was lovely to have in the heat. Breakfast good with lots of variety. Would stay again.

We stayed only 1 night in transit to the airport. The room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast was delicious with many options. In general, the hotel felt older and outdated. The parking situation is not great as it is a busy area. We paid 10 euro for the hotel to park for us. The best part of the stay was the hotel staff. They were all very friendly and helpful during our stay. Thank you!

Would class the rooms in this hotel as a 3 star. Stayed in a family room even though only 2 of us as we’ve stayed before & doubles are tiny. Rooms are dated, bathrooms grubby & far too small. Public corridors were stuffy & carpets all stained. Breakfast was a good choice but staff never even acknowledged us on 3 mornings. Rooftop pool & bar lovely & central location was fabulous for sightseeing.

We stayed at the hotel for five nights in July 2022. There were eight of us in total so two families. The location is absolutely perfect as it is right in the middle of Heraklion, opposite the bustling square with its wonderful with its Artisan stalls which are worth visiting and only a short walk to the shops and wonderful selection of restaurants. Heraklion is a truly bustling and Cosmopolitan city. The Hotel is very close to Heraklion Archaeological Museum and a bus or taxi ride to the beach. It is also not too far from the port you can walk there but we took a very quick taxi due to the heat. Upon arrival we were made to feel very welcome and our baggage was taken to our room for us. The reception area is refreshing to walk into from the heat outside and the decor is lovely and very modern with a comfortable seating area. There is a downstairs bar which is very chic with beautiful artwork where you can eat and you can just walk through to the shops outside to have a mooch with is perfect. Our check in process was very smooth and efficient. Check out is at 12 and check in is at 2. We had travelled from Chania by taxi. and were a little early. The gentleman on reception was able to find our group a room to check into while they got our other rooms ready which was very helpful and we did not have to wait too long. We had the economy rooms two different types between us. The ones which have balconies and the ones which are inside but don't have a balcony. The latter were a bit bigger than the ones with the balcony and the children's bed has its own little area which we really liked. The bathroom and room were very clean and the cleaners were very helpful and polite. We had a small fridge all the usual amenities you would expect and the air conditioning always worked well. I really feel (being from the UK) that the hotel represents very good value for the price we paid - if we were to pay a similar price in England we would not be staying in nearly such a nice hotel that's for sure. Certainly not one with a pool on the roof! We absolutely loved the roof area. The pool is quite small (but still big enough to have a lovely, cool swim). The pool area is clean and there are sunbeds and chairs you can sit on around the pool and plenty of place to sunbathe. It is absolutely lovely the perfect place to relax and take in the view. They also have a lifeguard up there at all times which we were not expecting. The pool is open until 8 at night but you can still go up to the roof for drinks and to eat your dinner after this time. They also provide towels for you which is great. The bar on the roof is absolutely excellent and the service is impeccable. The bar staff and waiters and waitresses work so hard and are so friendly (whilst also remaining professional). The bar food is great especially the mini burgers and the club sandwiches are to die for. You can also have dinner up on the roof and there are lots of lovely tables and chairs to chose from so that you never feel crowded. The portions are generous too. If you were there on business you could have video calls in a quiet corner too! The hotel plays music throughout the day and night up on the roof but it is not too loud and helps to add to the chic atmosphere. In the evening they play a good selection of music and they have a DJ up there but again its not too loud and just adds to the atmosphere. Being a music fan and lover of house music I really enjoyed watching the sun set from the roof. This really could be a marketing point for them! The sunsets were beautiful. I am really surprised that more people don't go up there at that time to enjoy the views and chill out because it really is a wonderful location and I felt so peaceful and chilled listening to the music and watching the sun go down. You also get a wonderful view of the swallows flying around. Now for the bar staff! The bar staff were incredibly professional and make absolutely lovely cocktails. I wasn't sure which cocktail I wanted one night so the gentleman who has been there for a long time asked me what I like and came up with the perfect cocktail for me. Both gentlemen who work in the bar are absolutely excellent, polite and professional and definitely know their art. They are supported by a wonderful and hard working team too including the DJ who really knows his music. The reception staff are very helpful always quick to book taxis for us or make recommendations for local restaurants which are always spot on. You can really tell that this is a wonderful family run hotel which takes pride in making sure people feel comfortable, at home and have all their needs met. Thank you so much for your amazing hospitality you all made our stay that little bit more special and we have many wonderful memories of Heraklion and our stay at the hotel to take away with us.

I love this hotel in the center of everything! It is right next door to the Archeological Museum. 10 to 15 minutes from the airport. Fantastic people working there are ready to help in any way they can. Beautiful breakfast buffet included with your stay! Great restaurant to eat at if you are tired and don't feel like venturing out after a long day of sightseeing. The rooftop pool is amazing! As you can see in my photos! You can walk to the harbor easily to check out the Kastro! There is so much to discover and see in walking distance from the Hotel. I highly recommend it to all who need a comfortable, centrally located place to stay! Oh, there are also Taxi, bus and Car Rental places nearby if you need them! Great shopping and landmarks all within walking distance!

First off, some of the reviews of this hotel are true: The elevators are small. It's a European hotel, folks. The rooms are not huge. It's a European hotel, folks. The breakfast buffet doesn't look like an American breakfast. It's a European hotel, folks. The excellent location more than makes up for this because these are conditions you'll find throughout your travels. But I had to give this hotel three stars for the bed. It was so hard, it hurt to sit on. Sleeping was like trying to get cozy on a surgery table. I bet there's marble out there with more give than my bed. So after not sleeping for three nights and popping Aleve every morning to help me unbend my aching muscles, this became an actual problem. Still, the location is very, very nice!

It's fine for a business trip. The location is very central, the rooms are clean and comfortable, the roof top bar is pleasant and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. All decently priced. Overall, good value for many.
