Our flight home cancelled and this was where we were put. Very unhelpful, couldn’t be bothered, lazy reception staff, it was an inconvenience to have us. Room was adequate but very small, view of waste land and busy road. Stair well, fire exit , filled with old mattresses! Windows not sound proofed. Meals were buffet style, dreadful, worse than a school canteen. Choice of Greek salad, spaghetti with tomato sauce or over cooked chicken. First night we were allowed one drink. Second night, same food , only changed chicken for a burger. This night they would not give us anything to drink. When questioned, we’re told, drinks not free! Although nobody on bar to serve from there. When I asked if it was legal and safe to serve food with no access to water, they relented and let us have some water. The reception manager brought two friends in from out side, both looked dirty, one of them ate all melon slices , leaving none for paying guests. Only saving Grace, was the pool and girl serving at pool bar during the day. She was always helpful , polite and very cheerful. A dreadful end to what had been a fantastic holiday. Area, not nice, between two busy roads and supermarkets. Avoid staying here.

We missed our flight home so we had to look for a last minute hotel to stay at. When I booked the hotel I was a bit apprehensive due to past experiences but I have to say, it did not disappoint. It has a great atmosphere, friendly and very helpful staff, the beach is just 100 meters away, fantastic pool and bar area, breakfast did not disappoint. I would stay here again next time I find myself stranded in Crete😂😂 my family loved it too so I recommend it.

One night stay following TUI flight cancellation. Ants and cockroaches in our room along with drain flies in the bathroom. Located in a very dodgy area as well. I have nothing positive to say about this place. I think even a tramp would turn his nose up at it. Shame on you TUI!!!!

Ended up stuck here after a TUI flight was cancelled, room was like a prison cell, food was like prison food, ive seen better 1* hostels in SE Asia. Beds were rock solid with one tiny pillow and a tiny mattress. Avoid like the plague.

Booked in to stay here for one night whilst hopping from place to place around the island. Thank god it was only 1 night. The hotel was full of noisy teenagers on a school trip who deemed it ok to blast their boom boxes with expletive music, my wife and I were far from impressed and couldn’t wait to get out. The only positive was that the room was one of the newly refurbished ones with a double bed and new memory foam mattress that is why two stars other than that I would have given one star. Staff were friendly though, pool is large with sun loungers around it but the sun does not come round until lunchtime so no one was in the pool first thing. Breakfast was poor to Crete standards.

So as with many other people we were dumped here by Tui after a cancelled flight. Horrendous run down place which is in no way deserving of 3 stars. I can only reiterate what has been said previously the noise both from the road, neighbouring rooms and hallways makes sleeping virtually impossible. Someone in an adjoining room was smoking but they may as well have been in our room. Rooms are like a bad 70's throwback and even the thought of the place makes my skin crawl. Wouldn't even consider entering the dining room given the bedrooms let alone trying the food. Looks like the place runs on cancelled flights.

Due to cancelled ferry from Santorini to Crete, my husband and I only had 12 hours (overnight) before our flight back to Athen. Vanisko hotel is definitely one of those cheap motel in the states with old mattress that will hurt your back, but for €50/night, we couldn’t complain. Research & read more reviews from Booking.com, they have more pictures. Breakfast is included and it wasn’t so bad for the price... Ladies- hotel only has cheap shampoo & shower gel, there is no conditioner fyi! With bus, it was only €1.20 per person(one way) to the airport and about 30-40mins. Bus stop is few steps away and concierge guys are nice, they can help you find it. Cab is about 10-20min? According to the concierge it may easily cost you €20. Hope this helped!

Nice enough hotel and good value for money. The hosts were friendly and the pool area was nice. Short walk to the beaches, restaurants and bars which were fantastic. Good walk or short taxi, car or bus ride into the centre of Heraklion

The hotel it self was were bussy, tired staff with no smile on their faces. The room was good but the pool area was bussy and crowded. We stayed for 1 night only so it might be good just for passning thrue. The most negative with this hotel is the location. It’s in the middle of 2 really bussy roads. Would not stay here again
