Kalimera Archanes Village gives you a taste of traditional Cretan life in a beautiful historic neighborhood surrounded by vineyards. It's a short drive to Hereklion, and just outside all of the noise. Archanes is home to many wineries and surrounded by luscious hills and mountains. The village itself is quaint and traditional, with local markets and lovely restaurants. The villas... More

We had an apartment, with plenty of space and even cooking facilities in a 200 year old building which had been well modernized but retained its charm.Breakfast was included and plentiful. As a bonus, we had a continual interchange with the manager, who spoke good English, was very friendly and helpful, and even served as a driver when he was... More

Stayed in Kalimera Archanes with the family (3 kids) as an alternative to all the resorts and busy hotels in and around Heraklion. We wanted a different experience and it was everything we hoped for. The collection of houses is idyllic and an enclosed haven. The garden is an oasis of tranquility and relaxation. The houses are wonderfully preserved and... More

Our stay in Archanes was one of the highlights of visiting Greece. The Kalimera Archanes Village is close to the main plaza where you can have great meals and experience life in Archanes/Crete first hand. The villa we stayed in was comfortable and the manager Lefteris went out of his way to make sure that our stay was enjoyable. We... More

We like staying in unique places and have had some great experiences in the past, particularly in Lima and Rome. I think this was the most amazing place we've stayed. We loved it. You'll love it, too. The food, the service, the location, and the villas were perfect. Look no further. Really, book now. First, it's not a B &... More

We appreciated the traditional setting of this apartment and that the family could spread out into separate bedrooms. We were very close to the village center (Archanes) and thus could walk to dinner each evening. The staff - from the manager Lefteris to the owners' son who drove us to the ferry - went out of their way to be... More

We had a Villa to ourselves. Breakfast was brought to our kitchen every morning personally by Leftaris (hotel manager). He is outgoing, welcoming, gracious and great with recommendations of what to see and where to go. He offered several suggestions including the restaurant which would become our very favorite of the trip, Kritamon. The Villa itself was very clean and... More

Villa was wonderful, located in what was once a private family compound. Location is in the center square of a small village, but a mere 15 minute drive the city and airport. Arrange airport transfer in advance as the first taxi driver could not find the location, and left us in the wrong place. Also, confirm ahead as my hotel.com... More

My sister chose Kalimera Archanes out of Fodor's and she couldn't have made a better choice. Lefteris was wonderful, the breakfasts were over the top, our accommodations in the Avra House were charming. Avra House was a 200 year old stone 2 story building with every amenity. I would highly recommend it and plan to return.

This was not a hotel room but like a small apartment, so much room, and so very comfortable. Lefteries was absolutely wonderful, could not have been nicer. When it was raining, he insisted on getting our car for us. Parking if very close to Kalimera, this is a MUST location for staying in Arxanes. Lefteries provided a huge breakfast, was... More
