Stayed again at Villa Mertiza, once again for a magic 17 days. Usual warm welcome from Dick, Siemon, Maria, and Mylene. Accomodation up to usual high standards, with very comfortable beds. I would recommend staying at Villa Mertiza, to experience the friendly and relaxing atmosphere, and the amazing Greek village which is authentic, and has great places to eat. Looking... More

Spent a happy 14 days at Villa Mertiza, in the small village of Mirtos, near to Ierapetra town. We have stayed at Mertiza for quite a number of years , and always find a very warm welcome from Dick, Siemon, and Maria. The property is well appointed, with self catering facilities if you wish, and they provide an excellent breakfast... More

Villa Mertiza: how does a not extremely luxureous hotel manage to be in the Zoover top 25 for the third time in a row. What's so special about it? It's the team. It's the extra steps they take to make yout stay unforgettable. It's their concern for their guests and the villages wellbeing. It's the little village Mirtos at the... More

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights in September 2014. If we had known that Mirtos was such an amazing town, we would have stayed longer. Dick and Simon, who run Villa Mertiza, are incredibly helpful and friendly. This is a very laid back place with 12 comfortable apartments, colorful, comfortable and roomy. We would definitely return here.

Spent a very happy two weeks in Crete at the Mertiza, in Mirtos. Very well looked after by Dick, Siemon , and Maria. Very well maintained accomodation , and very clean , and they have just had new beds installed, which were very comfortable. Mirtos is a very small Greek village, with around 12 Tavernas, and very friendly locals who... More

Stayed again at Mertiza in September, for a weeks visit. The stay here was up the the usual very high standard, with the comfortable area, and gardens at this property . We were made very welcome as usual , by Dick , Siemon , and Maria, and are looking forward to our next stay in June 2014. Mertiza, and the... More

We first stayed at the Villa Mertiza back in 2003 on a package tour and were so taken with it (and Mirtos) that we kept one of their cards. We finally managed to return 10 years later. Since our first visit it's been taken over by a Dutch family and it's even better than before! We arranged for a taxi... More

We found Mertzia by chance whilst touring SE Crete. Serendipity! Clean, comfy, friendly, relaxing, great value and we'd definitely return. The room was beautifully furnished and sufficient equipment to self-cater, but who wants to with the great tavernas on the beach front with great food at good prices. Tranquil setting and choice of solitude on own balcony or socialising in... More

Myrtos is a small place wedged between a barren cliff, a highway and the sea. It's relatively undeveloped, possibly because the swimming beach has rows of pebbles which hurt the feet and act as a barrier between you and the water, and the beach is exposed not some cute cove. That said, there are plenty of accommodation places with 'studios'... More
