We stayed in this hotel for 1 night before taking a cruise of the Baltic Ocean. The accommodation was basic *** tired but clean. No airconditioning, which would be horendous in the warmer months and the cost was $429 AUD which was our most expensive accommodation in Europe including Copenhagen. The staff were very helpful and the breakfast was quite... More

Amazing location! Awesome service! Helpful staff! Great breakfast included! Went to Copenhagen for 10 days with my family and got the quadruple room. Room was a little small, but it had everything we needed. Clean and serviceable. Although there was no a/c, there was a nice breeze during the time we stayed at the hotel (late May - early June).... There was dirty laundry on a cart left on my floor the whole time I was there. When checking in I had two people come down to check out that had just checked in as it "wasn't what they were expecting." There was a musty odor and the rooms were tiny, though this is Copenhagen so it's par for the... More

I booked this hotel for a week's stay in Copenhagen after a Baltic Cruise. I'd read some reviews and generally the hotel was respected. But while on our cruise I read some really negative reviews and I'm thinking these are from North Americans expecting a North American hotel. The Astoria is a European hotel - small rooms, right beside the... More

Run down, stains on threadbare carpet and chairs, tiny room, thin old mattresses that you don't really want to lie down on. Got out of the place within the hour.

After booking online, I was nervous about what exactly the place would be like. The building is 'modernist' and due to the fact that it was probably built between the two world wars or just after the second, it is limited by it's architecture. Staff were helpful but the room basic, so I upgraded to a bigger room (I never... More

I have often passed by this hotel and its exterior aspect intrigued me since a stylish, 1930s building ... this time I needed to stay near to the station to get early to the airport so I took up the opportunity. I wish I hadn't. After waiting to be served on my arrival for almost 15 minutes without a word... More

Rooms small, but practical and very clean, no complaints there. Staff very helpful and friendly. Free access to nearby swimming pool (5 minute walk) an interesting experience; weird pool arrangement but definitely worth a visit. Breakfast typical Euro standard; nice croissants. Good tip for restaurant look for Herzegovina opposite side of the square on main road (next to bakery). Bosnian... More

I have to say, I have never stayed in a worse hotel. It reminded me more of cheap student accomodation, with cheap carpets, cheap restoration to a tiny bathroom, cheap carpets and terrible decor. There were scuff marks on the walls all over. The window had some cheap roller blinds. In the morning, I was woken by the noise of... More

The hotel smells musty and the room the same. I couldn't turn around in the bathroom it was so small and my feet hung over the edge of the bed. The worst thing, however, was the the hotel is right at central station and the rumbling of trains 24/7 was so loud and literally shook the room. I had to... More

Staying in Inner Vesterbro

Neighbourhood Profile
Inner Vesterbro
This neighbourhood is home to Tivoli Gardens, a world famous amusement park and beautiful garden always worth a visit. Just west of Tivoli, you’ll find Copenhagen Central Station, from where you can reach just about every part of Denmark within 5 or 6 hours, or you can reach Copenhagen Airport in less than 15 minutes. Next to the Central Station, you’re in the middle of “old” Vesterbro, where several cultures and hundreds of languages are spoken in an area not more than one square mile. This neighbourhood is considered one of the most trendy places to live in and to visit in Copenhagen. For a real treat, visit Kødbyen ("meat town"), home to several restaurants, cafés and nightclubs, all within a short walk of each other.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Hotel Astoria is located as a large train in extension to Copenhagen's Central Station. It is positioned very central in a living area with a short distance to the metropolitan areas in the Meetpacker Destrict and Copenhagen Center. There are approximately 100 meters to Tivoli and the City Hall Square is right around the corner. The airport is only a 12 minutes ride away. The hotel is a 3-star hotel built in 1934 in the functionalist style typical for the architectural era and is therefore popular among people interested in architecture. We have kept many of the original parts inside the hotel.
