Reviews summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.

At the Imperial Hotel, the central location earns high marks from guests for its convenience to attractions like the main square and Tivoli Gardens. However, some visitors caution that the value proposition is diminished by unexpected costs and pricey extras.
While the service is generally lauded for being attentive, there are noted instances of sluggish responsiveness. The hotel's amenities and atmosphere receive mixed reviews, with calls for updates to the decor and refreshment of the rooms, which have been criticized for a lack of cleanliness and maintenance.

Detailed Reviews
Spent four nights here as part of a trip to Copenhagen to celebrate New Year.
The hotel is well located, being close to Tivoli Gardens and only a five minute walk to Copenhagen Central Station where you can catch trains to all over Denmark and also use the excellent new metro system.
The entrance looks more like that of a shopping mall rather than hotel, and this does give a rather unwelcoming feel to the place. The lobby area is small, with just a small bar/restaurant area and a separate room for breakfast, and with limited seating is obviously designed to ensure guests spend as little time as possible here.
We checked in on a Saturday night and this was done speedily, and we were given a room on the 4th floor. The room itself was pretty small with a very narrow wardrobe for hanging clothes. We had asked for a double bed but were given two twins with the mattresses pushed together- the mattresses were very soft and did no favours to my back.
The bathroom was clean with a good shower, though there were very stingy with the amount of shampoo/shower gel provided- just one small tube provided each day. A kettle with coffee, milk and sugar was provided, but there was no fridge in the room.
We had breakfast each day, and the range of food provided was generally good, though the scrambled egg was poor. The room where breakfast is held in is far too small for the number of guests in the hotel, so it did feel like feeding time at the zoo at busy times, with lots of the tables pushed close together.
We did not use the bar/restaurant during our stay, but did ask if it would be open for drinks after midnight on New Years Eve, and were bluntly told by one of the waiters they would be closing at 11:45pm! It did seem odd to us for a hotel to turn away some extra business from residents on one the key nights of the year.
Overall I would say that there are better places to stay in Copenhagen. As with everything in Denmark it is not cheap, and did not offer value for money. It is part of the Arp Hansen chain and the impression you get is that they can get away with offering the bare minimum here given its central location. It is also quite dated and needs some investment to bring it up to 2020 standards.

Upon arrival as we were impressed with the entrance and bar area and were asked if we’d like to upgrade to a junior suite for 280DKK per night, we accepted.
Our junior suite was extremely spacious, warm, had a fridge and TV and a very large and well appointed bathroom.
The room suffered from some external noise from the nearby railway lines but that can’t be helped due to the location.
The hotel is well located for Tivoli Gardens, the lakes and the city as well as a number of excellent restaurants.
We found the staff friendly and always accommodating, the breakfast excellent and the food in the restaurant also excellent although a little pricey.
The only negatives we experienced were an awful smell in the bathroom a couple of times when we had been out for the day, but once the light and extractor had been put on this eventually disappeared. Plus we did find that housekeeping did not replace toiletries, toilet roll or tea/coffee on any of the days, we had to phone Reception each day (Reception were very accommodating and rectified this quickly each day).
We will definitely stay at the Imperial again and thoroughly enjoyed our romantic Valentines weekend in the beautiful city of Copenhagen.

Excellent location, walking distance from metro, stations, Tivoli park, shopping areas.
Room small but enough for us (2 adults, 1 child).
Bathroom modest.
Well cleaned, efficient service
Noise from the street is perceptible, the isolation is not perfect, but it was acceptable.
Breakfast is excellent
The elevators were sometimes busy but it was far from the nightmare described by some other customers. And there are stairs...

We stayed here for 3 nights over New Year as we have stayed in this area before.
We were offered an upgrade to a larger room on check in and took it, well worth it to get a larger room in a more secluded area of the hotel.
The room itself was large and spotlessly clean, with all the amenities you'd expect: safe, tea and coffee facilities, TV with channels in various languages, free WiFi, air con and plenty of storage.
The bed was large and very comfortable, with separate duvets for each person which is a good way to stay comfortable, the only downside was the pillows are quite small but still comfy.
The bathroom was modern and clean with an epic shower, with environmentally friendly products supplied. The downside to the bathroom was the frosted glass door which meant the whole room lit up at night if anyone went to the toilet!
The hotel has excellent staff, which nothing is too much trouble to sort. We had a problem with the safe which was already locked when we arrived and a light that was hanging down in the bathroom, both sorted very quickly!
Overall this is a quality hotel in a great location, would I stay here again?
Absolutely, yes!

Upon our arrival at the Imperial Hotel we were impressed by the luxury entryway and bar.
When checking in, we were given the option of upgrading our room to a Superior Room for an extra 200DKK a night. The ‘Superior Room’ experience promised a terrace looking out over the city, a newly refurbished room, and lots of space.
Our room was far from this.
Yes, it had a terrace (with nowhere to sit) but it overlooked the high-rise office building across the street, so we had no views across the city. The room was tired and worn, not newly refurbished. There was some black mould in the bathroom and holes in the curtains, and lightbulbs were out.
The room was so small, that the wardrobe obstructed the television from being seen from the bed (there was no other wall space to put the TV). There was little room to move around the bed.
We didn’t realise just how badly we had been duped until we saw into some of the other rooms in the hotel that were much, much bigger.
When we checked out we mentioned this, but were told that it was our fault for not mentioning it. We didn’t want to complain and move as my other half unfortunately spent most of the time unwell with the flu and was not up to moving.
We did receive a 50% discount on the upgrade cost, but it didn’t really cut it. If they call this room superior, I would hate to see a standard room, perhaps it’s just a pod with a sleeping bag?
If they ask you at the front desk if you want an upgrade, just decline. It’s a dishonest way of getting more money out of you for giving you nothing.

Overall a great Hotel. For who drinks sparkling water, prepare unexpected 35dkk. They don't include at the breakfast sparkling water and if you ask for it, you will be charged 35dkk on a small bottle. They have tap water, and "juices" that are made with something concentrate and water.

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights (2 adults and a 1 year old). We had booked a Christmas markets trip and wanted somewhere fairly central to stay. The location was very good, just a short walk to the main square and Tivoli Gardens. There was a big supermarket nearby as well, which was useful for us.
We did feel there were a few problems that impacted on our stay. The windows were not particularly well soundproofed, so we could hear quite a lot of noise at night. Because of the central location, there are a lot of people walking past in the area and you can hear everything.
Also, we didn't realise that the hotel has a policy of not cleaning rooms unless requested. We were handed a leaflet saying this, but just assumed it was the usual policy of not washing towels unless they are on the floor. I do think they should alert guests to this policy on check in so that they can make the choice whether they want the room cleaned or not. You do need to request it the night before, so by the time we realised it wouldn't be done, it was too late.
The room was generally fine. We couldn't fault the temperature. It was very cosy, despite the cold temperature outside. The room itself was a little dated and we did feel it could do with a good deep clean, particularly the shower head. The cot bed provided was nice and our little one got a good sleep, which was great. There was a safe provided in the room but this didn't work and we didn't have time to report it and get it sorted.
We had breakfast included with our stay, which was very nice. We particularly enjoyed the pastries.
We also found the staff to be very helpful and friendly. When we arrived, we realised we had forgotten to bring a travel adapter and the lady who checked us in was able to lend one to us. They also helped us by heating up food for our daughter in the microwave and providing a quiet place for her to eat when we arrived.
Overall, not a bad place to stay, but could do with some improvements.

This hotel needs massive improvement, booked a superior double deluxe room to stay for 4 nights at the end of February. The first room we had (628) was tiny and did not match the size of the photos at all, we spoke to reception and they said there was no other room available (even though trying to book the same room type was available when we looked online, but maybe this was an issue with the booking system) we got moved to a new room the next day (622) which took up an hour or two of our holiday, no apology from management which I thought was the least they could do.
Both beds very soft and uncomfortable, I’d go as far as saying the worst hotel bed I’ve ever slept in, in combination with the air conditioning either being freezing or hot it made our sleeps terrible. Breakfast was really good, nice selection of hot and cold foods, staff overall really friendly.
I would not stay at this hotel again unless it has a major refurbishment. 2 stars for the breakfast being good and the staff friendly (even with no apology for the first tiny room/bed).
Gym was good and well equipped with cardio and weights available.
If at check in they try to out you in room 628 and you’ve paid for a superior double deluxe you should downright refuse unless they give you a 50% refund.

The location is very central to several tourist sites.
Rooms are pretty standard and boring but fine for just sleeping.
We had our luggage stored for a couple of hours by the reception. The receptionist put a sticker on one of our suit cases right on the leather handle instead of a plastic bar. The sticker didn't come of very well and now the handle has markings :-( Not very brilliant and that is why I only give 2/5 points!
The breakfast was large, but the cakes were dry and the bacon weirdly tasteless.. Good rösti though.

Dear Jeppe First, thank you for your feedback. We try to read and answer all online feedback and actively use the feedback to improve both our product and our services. I am sorry to hear about your suitcase. I have honestly never heard about this being an issue before, however, I will use your feedback to ask our supplier if maybe we can use a different type of glue for our stickers. They should of course not leave stains of any kind. Furthermore, I have showed your feedback to all of our bellboys so that they are aware not to put stickers on top of the leather part on a suitcase - the devil is in the detail. In terms of the rooms, we are constantly looking at upgrading our hotel in general and your feedback have been noted. Since you stayed with us, we have changed all the mattresses in the rooms so we are "on the way" in terms of upgrading our product. Finally yet importantly, I appreciate the positive feedback you gave as well. Both in terms of the location and the parts of the breakfast, you enjoyed. Once again, thank you for taking the time - I sincerely hope we will get the chance to welcome you back at some point. Best Regards Niklas, General Manager.

Front Office staff tried to cheat us as she did not want to return our deposit in Euro. Deposit must be kept as a guaranteed amount and it must be returned to guests on check out as the same amount in same currency unless nothing is used up in the room.
Instead she paid us back in Kroner but at very lowe exchange rate. Also lied us that she already explained this policy although she did not at all!
Concierge small guy suddenly came and interrupted our conversation without understanding of what we talked!
They took advantage of our limited time to catch our international flights and therefore insisted us to accept what she gave. We asked to see her superior and finally we got back what we deposited in Euro. Anyway we wasted our time at Front Desk almost 39 minutes for their misbehavior.
Suggest- the international four star level hotel should improve its staff capacity & honesty by conducting proper training to staff how to behave and to be honest at work and dealing with guests.
These two staff spoiled our holidays completely!
It’s a great pity that we left with the bad image of the hotel! Not a recommended hotel to stay at all despite of its good location and surroundings!

Not a recommended hotel to stay at all despite of its good location and surroundings!

it is included in price. And it is very dissent.
Yes it is open 24/7
Should not be a problem as the hotel is so huge, they won't recognize it anyway. Enjoy!
Dear Cisco289,
The volt in Denmark is 230V, so you need to bring a converter :)
