Next door to royal residence Amalienborg Palace and just a short walk from Nyhavn, this imposing 200-year-old former granary warehouse is one of the largest hotels in the city, with 366 rooms - but don't let that put you off. It may not be boutique but big can definitely be beautiful. Beyond the two cast iron canons at the entrance is a neon-pink bar (great for a pre-dinner tipple), while guests retire to rooms showing off classic Danish touches such as teak furniture, low ceilings and original wooden beams. Best of all are the panoramas across the water towards the city's shiny Opera House and Christiania: a view fit for royalty.

I am a regular at this hotel mainly because it is conviently located, has a nice (though a bit dated) ambiance and, most importantly, better (and harder) mattresses than in any other hotel in Copenhagen I stayed in. The reason I am giving a bad rating is the service attitude. As a business traveller I need to have my company name and address on the invoice, a seamingly straightforward activity which staff at reception almost al the time gets wrong so check in/out is always an annoying and cumbersome procedure and unnecessary ground hog day experience. Hotel management has been involved and promised some improvements which never worked and now they just stay quiet. I have never experienced such ignorant behaviour towards a regular customer anywhere else in the world.

Hotel's Favourite
First class experience all round. I’ve stayed in Copenhagen a number of times but this was my first stay at the Admiral Hotel. Location is excellent, on the waterfront and a couple of minutes stroll to both Nyhavn and the Palace. Service was friendly and accommodating. We had booked to nights in a loft room which has a double bed upstairs and a sofa bed downstairs. The sofa bed would be fine for young children but not for our teenage daughters. I asked to move to two adjoining double rooms for the second night, which the check in staff sorted immediately. The rooms themselves are modern, and a good size. We had a water view which was great. All in all I would thoroughly recommend the hotel and would certainly stay again. Thanks for making our trip such a great experience

Dear Stewart G, Thank you for your kind words and feedback! We are delighted to hear that you had a first-class experience during your stay at the Admiral Hotel. Our location is definitely one of the highlights, offering easy access to popular landmarks such as Nyhavn and the Palace. We appreciate your recognition of our friendly and accommodating service. It is our priority to ensure that our guests feel comfortable and well taken care of throughout their stay. We apologize for the inconvenience caused by the sofa bed not being suitable for your teenage daughters, but we are glad that our check-in staff was able to promptly arrange adjoining double rooms for you on the second night. We take pride in our modern and spacious rooms, and we are pleased to hear that you enjoyed the water view from your room. Your recommendation means a lot to us, and we would be more than happy to welcome you back for another great experience in the future. Thank you for choosing the Admiral Hotel, and we hope to have the opportunity to host you again soon. Kind Regards, Yuliana Guest Relations Manager

Easily walkable to many places. Lovely staff. Tasty breakfast. Nice bathroom furnishings and great to have the Bluetooth speakers to be able to have a bathroom disco. Great restaurants and bars right next to the hotel. Easy check in and out.

Good hotel, in a beautifully restored old building retaining its charm whilst giving off a modern vibe with simple clean design. All the staff were very welcoming and helpful. The room (standard) was extremely comfortable and well fitted out in simple Danish style with good aircon and tea/coffee making facilities which a lot of hotels don’t seem to bother with. The room was a very comfortable place to rest in with good pillows and comfy mattress and very clean. My only gripe was that there were building works going on which we weren’t advised of when booking. It was noisy at times (heavy drilling) and the access to the waterside and terrace at the rear was closed. I would suggest checking this before booking. Building works aside, I would recommend this hotel and return. It is very well located one block from Nyhavn with lots of restaurants and a short walk from Christianshavn yet in a quiet street.

Great room, good attentive service, marvellous position, but, if you’re planning a visit in the near future, they don’t tell you on their website, that there is a major refurbishment going on , on the ground floor.. temporary check in desks, breakfast room… etc. And to boot major works on the waterfront side including piledriving.. would go again, but check first, before you are seduced by the upgrade offers..

I would have rated the hotel a 5, but the noise level of other guests, especially dogs in the hotel stopped this. The room was clean & very comfortable & the view was fab from the room overlooking the water. The staff were helpful when anything was asked and we liked the decor inside. Sadly, every 4 nights of our stay I had to endure the noise of dogs barking and howling from rooms adjoining & above. This was after midnight on 2 occasions. The reception were helpful & did offer to move me, but I was hoping after the first night when fellow guests were spoken to, that it would stop. We were given a free breakfast & late checkout though as a gesture of goodwill, which was helpful. The location is great and not too far to walk to explore. We would stay again, but I would stipulate a room away from barking dogs. Breakfast was good, but didn't enjoy the room service food.

The hotel is close to shopping and restaurants and is very clean. The service is excellent and the staff is friendly and helpful however, the price ($713.07 for two nights) for a small room (with a view) with no complimentary water or coffee and no amenities was a waste of our money. We paid $35.00 a person for a buffet and were very disappointed. The food is limited and poor quality and the buffet room has tables and chairs pushed so close together that you are almost touching the other table. There is no character to the room and it looks like an overcrowded cafeteria you would find in McDonald's or Burger King.
