This hotel is a converted wharf front building with interesting features. Comfortable hotel with excellent breakfast on the waterfront close to Nyhven and the palace Rooms are on the small side and the mini suite has a mezzanine floor bedroom which is accessed by a very steep iron staircase not suitable for children or those with mobility issues. If the...

We stayed at the Admiral for 3 nights at the conclusion of a 9 day trip from Stockholm, through Gothenburg and Copenhagen. The hotel's location was excellent on the harbor with our room overlooking the water, even though there was a tree right in front of our door. The hotel is very central to everything, Copenhagen is easily a walking...

Another hotel that was far nicer than I expected! We booked quite late, and this was one of the only hotels that had rooms available. I figured it might not be very nice, but turned out it had availability because it's just so large -- an old warehouse tastefully repurposed into a beautiful hotel with all the original wooden structural...

Great hotel in a spectacular position, but all was ruined by the lack of a lighter duvet or a complete set of sheets to arrange the bed. The duvet is unbelievably hot and unsustainable in summer ( no conditioning, and difficult to sleep with the window open as the position on the harbor ): we asked for a solution many...

Lovely hotel on waterfront. Rooms quirky with wood beams prominent due to building being converted barn Facilities very good and staff best I have come across. David who worked in the bar was very good, but all the staff were so pleasant and helpful.

Our flight arrived early from Singapore, I booked an airport transfer to the hotel, about a 25 minute journey, I had requested, prior to arrival for an early check in, unfortunately this was not possible, our bags were taken to a secure luggage room whilst we had breakfast and enjoyed sitting out on the terrace over looking a canal. At...

Good: Location is really amazing. Queen`s palace is just 200 meters from the hotel. Very good but a bit pricy hotel restaurant. Negative: Very small 2 floor rooms. Rooms look very cheap. VERY crowdy at breakfast. The staff is unfriendly and hopeless.

This was my second visit to the Admiral. Its proximity to Nyhaven, the Royal Palace, the Opera House, the Mermaid and the harbour had all been big pluses on my first visit. I had only stayed one night on that visit and had checked out before breakfast. This is a very large and busy hotel which I hadn't really appreciated...

Neighbourhood Profile
Indre By (Inner City)
This is the heart of old town Copenhagen, with its blend of charming old buildings and bold new architecture, broad avenues and tiny streets as well as picturesque canals and a modern harbor. The inner city is home to the Royal Danish Theatre, which consists of three buildings, two of which are new and situated on the harbor front. The streets, squares and venues of the inner city and its surrounding neighborhoods, are alive all year round with everything from jazz festivals to outdoor ice skating rinks and parachuting at the lakes right in the center of the city. This compact area boasts beautiful old castles, tranquil parks, and bustling squares where you can always find a bench to stretch out your legs whenever you need a break.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Next door to royal residence Amalienborg Palace and just a short walk from Nyhavn, this imposing 200-year-old former granary warehouse is one of the largest hotels in the city, with 366 rooms - but don't let that put you off. It may not be boutique but big can definitely be beautiful. Beyond the two cast iron canons at the entrance is a neon-pink bar (great for a pre-dinner tipple), while guests retire to rooms showing off classic Danish touches such as teak furniture, low ceilings and original wooden beams. Best of all are the panoramas across the water towards the city's shiny Opera House and Christiania: a view fit for royalty. ... more   less
