The Grand Joanne hotel is frequently commended for its friendly staff and spotless environment, with guests particularly impressed by the stylish, cozy rooms and the property's overall inviting atmosphere. Nestled in a prime central location, the hotel offers easy access to nearby attractions like Tivoli Gardens.
However, some guests feel the hotel falls short in terms of value, pointing to the costly breakfast and additional charges. While the room aesthetics receive praise, their size and limited amenities have been noted by reviewers as areas for improvement.

Detailed Reviews
This hotel only reopened a month ago but you wouldn’t know it from how brilliant the staff are - friendly, efficient and helpful. The hotel itself is beautiful and an incredible location near the main train station and a walk from most of the main tourist attractions. Our room was a little small perhaps but beautifully decorated and the bed was so comfortable with big fluffy pillows and a lovely new mattress and bedding. The shower was also lovely - a huge waterfall head shower unit with hot water and good pressure. We were only in Copenhagen for a weekend so it ticked all of our boxes. It was also nice and quiet at night and the breakfast was very tasty. Impressed - would definitely stay again!

The main reason why we chose this hotel was its proximity to the station (literally 3-4 minutes on foot).
I liked the hotel, it was very cozy: a large and warm room (which was a huge advantage in the light frost outside), a clean and nice bathroom, beautiful design. Very comfortable bed, moderately soft, moderately hard. The shower has good pressure of hot water. The room has a kettle, tea, coffee (instant) and even milk in micro bags.
There were pleasant employees at the reception who told us about the city and suggested where to go, what was open and what was closed at this time of year, and where to have dinner.
You can rent bicycles at the hotel to get around the city, but it wasn’t relevant for us, it’s too cold to ride in winter.
In general, the hotel is really cool, although it is not cheap (like all good hotels in Copenhagen)!
The only negative thing is the cost of breakfast. Breakfast was not included in the price, so we decided to have breakfast at the hotel the first morning. Taking into account the conversion on a dollar credit card, breakfast for two cost about $70!!! And although the breakfast itself is not bad, it's a standard continental breakfast, with quality cuts of meat and cheese, juices, pastries, eggs, sausages, etc., but not for this price. I understand that Copenhagen is expensive by European standards, but not that expensive. To understand, having a very hearty and tasty breakfast in neighboring cafes and restaurants in the following days cost us no more than $30-40! Moreover, a year ago, for $75, we took breakfast at the Four Seasons Hotel in Abu Dhabi, which was simply much tastier and better quality than in this hotel.... Therefore, I absolutely do not recommend breakfast at the hotel!!! However, since I am rating a hotel and not a hotel restaurant, this does not affect the rating :)

Taking, perhaps, the unusual step of avoiding friends and family for my 60th birthday (they all thought so), I took myself off to Copenhagen and The Grand Joanne for a five day city break. The entire team made my day every bit special from the very kind wishes and greetings I received from everyone. Even the room cleaning team and chef made an effort to wish me a happy birthday, which they clearly need not have done were they not wholly committed to providing such excellent customer service. The hotel is very fortunate to have such a fantastic team.
On arrival the detailed and informative welcome felt warm and most genuine.
Every ounce of food presented in the attached Italian restaurant was rich, delicious and the knowledgeable restaurant team advised me well on ingredients and cooking methods. Cooked and presented to perfection, they are all a further credit and demonstrated customer service at it's very best. Even on occasion during my stay the set menu was tweaked to provide something different. Culminating in an unexpected and wholly delightful birthday meal which the team had clearly considered and put together before I sat down, which I was more than happy to run with. OMGoodness, that tiramisu!
I found the decor welcoming, slightly quirky, yet not outlandish to put off the more conservative, and of excellent quality (Stayed in a penthouse room). Although having a central location, two minutes walk from Tivoli, the top floor rooms were blissfully quiet, soundproofed, and a completely undisturbed lay-in enjoyed on more than one occasion! Linen and bedding fresh, clean and of excellent quality.
Overall, I would not hesitate in making The Grand Joanne my go-to when returning to Copenhagen.

We booked 4 nights in a suite for our first trip to Europe. We did extensive research on hotels and we excited about this hotel. Our first night was good with a beautifully decorated room. It was clean and spacious. The second night we heard dripping and splashing and noticed the ceiling leaking in multiple places. My fiancé went downstairs to alert the front desk. He was told there was nothing to be done. My fiancé had to request a bucket himself. He came back upstairs and tried to sleep. The noise from the multiple drips prevented this, so we went back down to the lobby. The front desk attendant tried to use the computer system, but it was down. He then looked at the manual log, and was able to get us a standard room for the night. This room had a very comfortable bed; however, the bathroom was covered with a layer of construction dust (ex. On the toilet paper roll, toilet seat, soap dispenser, and floor). We slept for a few hours and went to the desk to request a new room or room service. The front desk clerk was very kind and understanding, he upgraded us to the best suite in the hotel for free. When we got there the room was clean and had a dining area, living space, and bedroom. We quickly noticed however that the air conditioner was not blowing cold air, and the air was very stuffy due to being on the top floor. Then, once the sun went down, we found out the lights didn’t work in the living or dining room or bathroom. It was so hot, I could not sleep the last night. The hotel tried to accommodate us, but this was the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. The location was great, but other than that, we would have been better off anywhere else that didn’t leak, have broken lights, or any sort of air conditioning over a fan.

Booked the hotel stay in early October and was recommended to take a deluxe room for greater comfort.
We arrived by train to Copenhagen from Stockholm and the hotel is right next door so close and good in central Copenhagen. We had to hand in the bags for later check-in.
Shortly after 3 pm we checked in and got our luggage and the room was on the fifth floor of six.
The room faced a courtyard and had only one small window. A comfortable bed with nice and comfortable bedding. A small sofa with table and armchair, a separate wardrobe and a small desk/sideboard, small bedside tables and television. The bathroom door close to the bed with a sliding door. The bathroom is a normal size with a shower, some small and thin towels, hand soap, shower soap, shampoo and conditioner and a kit with a toothbrush. In the wardrobe, good with hangers, a smart iron and shoe horn, I lack shoe polish to dry the shoes with. The room quite responsive and shake a little in between when people left. On Saturday it was just a simple cleaning of the room. We had ordered flowers which were on the table when we arrived with the paper on no welcome card.
The bar is nice with good drinks and friendly staff. Dinner in the restaurant with a 10% discount if you book at the reception less good rather tasteless cooking service okay but no more. Breakfast you book an appointment for and had fantastic staff, a small buffet and you chose a hot dish from the menu no scrambled eggs and rather bad omelette, tea or coffee came to the table if you wanted an espresso it cost 15 DKK extra which was put in the room. The hotel lacked something of the little extra that we might have expected as a hotel guest at a boutique hotel. For example, two glasses of champagne are ordered to be toasted at the table and a small snack is served. The little extra that makes it and it was missing.

Chose this place for location near the station as going to Eurovision
Firstly its staff are very friendly and helpful
It feels and smells like its had a recent refurb. We got a deluxe room in the annexe on the 4th floor, which was a good size and nice bathroom. Just lacked a fridge and coffee maker which would have pushed it up in to
the boutique category
Tried breakfast (very unusual tasting eggs benny; got that odd danish crumble in it) Dinner (whole sea bream
) and the roof terrace which is really pleasant for cocktails
Overall we felt it was a good choice with a good vibe

Dear Jonathan Thank you for taking the time to share your experience at the Grand Joanne. I'm thrilled to read that you found our location convenient and our staff friendly and helpful. We strive to create a welcoming atmosphere, and I'm glad to hear that we were successful in your case. I will be sure to pass on your kind words to our team. Your feedback about the deluxe room in the annexe is much appreciated. We understand how a fridge and coffee maker can enhance the comfort of a stay, and we'll certainly take this into consideration. I'm sorry to hear that our eggs benedict didn't quite hit the mark for you, but I'm glad you enjoyed the whole sea bream for dinner and our roof terrace for cocktails. We always aim to provide a variety of options for our guests, and it's great to hear that you had a pleasant dining experience overall. Once again, thank you for choosing Grand Joanne and for your valuable feedback. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back in the future. Best wishes, Grand Joanne Norbert

Don’t let the cute photos fool you. It will not matter one bit when you’re struggling to sleep in a hot, noisy room! This is prime example of form over function. The hotel does not have functioning AC. But instead of owning up they insisted it only comes on in July and August. This means you must sleep with open windows and sadly there are compressive and noisy road works going on late into the day (it’s daylight after 10 pm in the summer) and weekly midnight firework shows at Tivoli that will keep you awake all night. Upon checkout I spotted two palettes of emergency cooling fans due to the complaints. And yet no offer was made by the hotel to remedy the issue. I get it. It’s a new property and they’re still working out the kinks, but for a premium suite in a hotel of this level I felt duped when they announced there’s no AC in June. A policy that is listed absolutely nowhere on their website or on booking.com. Tons of cute hotels in this area with equally cute design and working AC! Let the buyer beware!

Staff were very helpful and friendly. Room was spacious and clean. Breakfast buffet and menu didn’t have a huge selection but food was extremely fresh, delicious and breakfast area clean. Dinner and room service options were extremely disappointing, with room service not having a lot of option, it was mainly small snack options such as olives. Two things to note, room contained no phone, room service had to be ordered through scanning a QR code. Also if you’re traveling as a family sometimes having a room phone can be beneficial incase of an emergency etc lifts were also small so for anyone traveling with children/pram that’s something to note. Everytime the room above mine flushed the toilet the noise would be extremely loud and I could hear water running which greatly affected my sleep quality. Rooms are not hugely soundproof and I could hear people walking and talking past my room well into the night.

Dear Olivia, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience at Grand Joanne. We're thrilled to hear that you had a great stay and found our staff to be very helpful and friendly. Your compliments about the spacious and clean room are much appreciated. We're glad to know that you enjoyed our fresh and delicious breakfast, even though you found the selection not as extensive as you'd have liked. We appreciate your feedback on this and will certainly pass it on to our culinary team for their consideration. We understand your concerns about the room service options and the absence of a phone in the room. We've chosen to use QR codes for room service orders to streamline the process, but we understand that this may not be ideal for everyone. Your feedback is valuable and will help us evaluate our current system. We're sorry to hear about the noise disturbances you experienced during your stay. We understand how important a good night's sleep is and we regret that your sleep was affected. We will share your feedback with our maintenance team so they can look into the plumbing and soundproofing issues you mentioned. Once again, thank you for your feedback, oliviakelly4201. We hope to welcome you back at the hotel in the future, hopefully for an even better experience. Best Wishes, Grand Joanne Norbert

This hotel is by no means a 4 star hotel as it is portrayed. It also has no official star rating as it describes itself as a "lifestyle hotel".
We paid 975.00€ for 2 nights without breakfast. This is a proud price for a small room of 21 sqm (We had a deluxe room) WITHOUT fridge. Therefore, it is not suitable for diabetics who need to cool their insulin.
Also, everything was impractical. The cabinet was about 80cm wide, glazed and illuminated,
but had no drawers or the like to store shoes or laundry, which was all the worse because there were also no dressers or shelves in the room. So we had to "live out of the suitcase" in part.
My grandmother once advised me to judge the quality of hotels by whether you could hang long dresses in your closets. I guess those were different times.
Even worse in the bathroom, you couldn't unpack your cosmetic bags. There are no storage areas. It's so dark in the bathroom that you can't wear makeup either.
A cosmetic table set up in the entrance area should probably serve as a replacement. Who still sits down at a cosmetics table for makeup and care today? In any case, water is required nearby to remove the various substances. That's what they do in BAD in 2024!
When showering, part of the floor was always inundated.
My colleague then used the table to store her cosmetic utensils, the other part we used as a desk, there is no such!
You could then at least work on the laptop on the world's most uncomfortable hump standing in front of the table. After two hours, however, all my limbs hurt so much that I must probably prolong my physiotherapy.
There is another table in front of the small couch, but it is also not suitable for working, because not high enough.
The light is much too dark, nice that it is dimmable, but it should probably be bright at the highest level.
The uncomfortable furniture is also available at the reception and in the bar-restaurant area.
You can also have breakfast there. You can opt for the very paltry breakfast buffet or have breakfast a la carte, which we did. However, the omelettes were served without bread. We had to request that extra and there was no butter. The omelettes are nature. The salmon or bacon is simply next to it.
When we checked out we paid the bill, which seemed too high. When we checked them had been charged 4 x breakfast buffet, although we had not used that. We had only 1x a la carte breakfast, which additionally appeared on the bill.
It was corrected, but again cost waiting time, as many other guests wanted to check in by now.
We only read the reviews afterwards and the complaints have obviously been the same for years.
Then why isn't that changed? Changing the furniture and lighting is not witchcraft.
We will not come back even if the location of the hotel is very central.

From this central location we were able to walk to most attractions in the city. Hotel staff very helpful. When booking with hotel directly they issued a 200 DK credit to enjoy their facilities. Great idea! We enjoyed a night drink at the roof top bar. Perfect way to rest tired legs.
